Ops another bitcoin exchange has gone under

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2...-down/6019449/

Please referred to my previous comment that they all have the same flaw and the hackers have found the holes and are working their way through all the servers.

Like I said these systems did not past the smell test.

Kmarie, got another question for you, so when and if you hit it big on dogcoin, are you planning to report your big payday to the local and federal government so they can tax it.

If you need to ignore stated facts to make your argument better, fine by me
I've already stated that I am into multiple currencies
But if it makes you feel like a man to say I can't afford bitcoins, then I'm happy for you.

Bitcoin at one point was worth pennies
And it hit $1200 later
So your point is...?

How is this related to this discussion?

Or is this the "clutching at straws" type tactic?

After the collapse of the largest bitcoin exchange in the world
And the premature mockery of certain people on this thread
The price of bitcoin is currently up 20% than right before the mtgox collapse

No my point is this, do you think the US government is going to stand back and let people like yourself make profits without dipping into your profits. I am kind of surprise they have not spoke up on this subject already, but keep in mind you have a responsible to declare all your income source even if the Tax return does not specifically call it out. Since the US government has come out and said they treat these as equities that puts the ownness on you to declare the income.

I will take your lack of response as you have no plans to pay taxes on your crypto-currencies transactions.

It's all related to the topic, OP asked if anyone was investing in crypto-currencies. With normal investments there are many questions and topics; such as taxes, risk tolerance, growth vs value, analysis, and so on.

Similar things have happened if you owned TSLA a little over a year ago. Lots of penny stocks pop and others implode. I think the chances that another CC will rise to the levels of bitcoin is low.

Actually I like TSLA, and I put some money in, just wish I did it want the whole fire issue happen. Besides, it being a wall street darling stoke, it have some good fundamentals and the future is looking better for them.

On the other hand, Cyrpto-currencies i think will look more like this stock, plug-power. It is on a run again, but it went nuts in the early years until people figure out they had an idea with no market.

I am sure the US govt would love to start taxing crypto currency transactions
but look how long it took to start taxing internet transactions
they were tax exempt for a long time, still are in some states

my lack of response is mainly due to the fact that I don't talk about my personal tax matters with a complete stranger from the internet
no offense

Actually the US government does not tax internet transactions, actually they really do not want state trying to sales taxes transactions.

I live in PA and they were the state who won in Court against Amazon, when it comes to Sales Tax PA is a Nazi about it since it one of their largest revenue generators since they income tax is so low. Amazon and other companies have refused to sale tax for PA purchase since they are not a PA company and PA can not force a non-PA company to tax, thus the reason for use tax, i.e. you are responsible to to report the tax for out of state purchase to the state government, most states have this rule.

The reason PA won their case was due to the fact Amazon used distribution companies located in PA which allow Amazon employee to take up shop there, so in a sense they are were running an operations in PA, when PA won other states jumped on the same band wagon.
