xenon ballast died... help!

im trying to retrofit a regular hid kit into my headlights on my 04 530i and the oem plug that goes into the oem ballast has 4 pin holes and i know by looking at the ballast that one of the pin holes is not used becasue there are only 3 pins... i can see which hole is the dead one however i can not determine which is the positive and negative pin holes... i tried all combinations... what should i do.

it seems your xenon ballast needs to be replaced only
