I don't think it's about isolated superiority... it's about an empty parking lot providing opportunity to spread out a bit. It's like an empty bus and the person who boards it sits in the seat right next to you. Totally understandable if the bus is full... but if it's empty, I'd prefer to take that opportunity for a bit of personal space.

As for my wife parking next to me, that was a joke. Obviously I didn't mind it... just figured the irony was funny given that I started this thread.

What is the deal w those angled parking configs? I HATE them as I can't reverse into them and I ALWAYS do that. Do they really save more space?

Anyway, I was at a near empty lot and this lady was taking FOREVER trying to park in an empty space, she was going forward, reversing, etc, trying to somehow fit into the spot...she then gave up and parked next to me out of all those freaking empty spaces! REVELATION: I think that some ppl can't gauge the parking spot lines and use other vehicles as frames of references, but still, cmon!

Ofc I moved to another spot pronto, she was making me crazy nervous.

I agree with your revelation, I've told my wife that several times, they can't park without lining up next to a car and like one that won't bash their doors. There was a picture going around in the 80's that you print and keep in your car. Its Donald Duck shooting a bird and saying, thanks ahole, next time leave me an effing can opener so I can get in my car.

I'm normally ok if it's a BMW or MINI cause there is a sort of hidden understanding about what we are doing.

There was a supermarket near me where the 5th floor parking (which was unpopular since most parked on 2-4th where the elevator was) was full of BMW's - and some Rolls. It was almost like a small club where if you drove a BMW you just parked there for peace of mind - it was great. E46's, F10's, F01's, G's and pretty much any BMW.

I hate this with a passion, I find a space away from everyone and some d*icsk parks next to me. My OH does this all the time, I say "hey park there, look no other cars" and "yet, park's next to somone's 12year POS dodge

No wonder there are scratch marks over the car.

Back in the day I was always told (as a anti-theft advantage) to always park next to a more expensive newer car than your own.

The idea a thief wants the merc rather than you 20 yo Ford
