BMW emblem fell off surface of roundel--help

The paper-thin metal (perhaps plastic) BMW insignia fell off the hood roundel assembly. I found it the next day in my office parking lot. The roundel part that remains on my 2009 E90 M3 hood is the mounted metal part that is still attached to the car. The surface is covered in soft glue. If I can scrape off all the old glue, which is gummy and soft, can I just glue the insignia back on? If so, what type and brand of glue should I use. I would like to try this rather than buy a new complete roundel assembly and have to mount it.

Isn't 3M double sided tape and not glue used for the front and rear badges?

$80. It's not the money, it's the hassle. Easier to glue to emblem back on, as the roundel "base" is perfectly attached to the car already. Just want to know the best product to use.

It’s much easier to pop a new one on.
