Jesus Christ how mortifying.
Nothing screams Corvette like a crossover...

What a sensational idea! Porsche could be next with a 911 sedan, 911 SUV and 911 pickup truck!

I think the focus is separation, much like Honda/Acura, Infiniti/Nissan, Lexus/Toyota. And it's not a stretch, since the Corvette has had its own build station/platform since the C5 I believe, with everything bespoke to it, so all of this is just marketing.
I don't think people realize how old the Corvette idea is, and how many of those people are dead now, which is why the classic prices started going south. GM is doing what it has to do for TOMORROW, to change the Corvette image for the younger buyers of tomorrow. And yes, it'll be a bad haircut for a while, it always is, but the numbers say it's a smart move. |

The big unknown for me is if the trend of denim shorts and white new balances will survive this change. 🫣

the Macan is the best selling Porsche I believe, they have a 4 door sedan and a larger SUV / crossover Cayenne

I was thinking more of the rear-engine purist 911, but you are right of course -- Porsche sold their soul long ago. My Macan is a great vehicle, by the way: the best of the compact SUVs.

This is worse than puting M or AMG badges on M-performance or AMG-lite vehicles as they are just badges at the end of the day. The Corvette is a car. Everyone that's old enough knows that GM is the king of badge engineering and it feels like cheapening the Corvette name just to sell some more Chevy SUV's.

Lol everything is getting bastardized now. It seems like since the mid 2010s, everything in society that seemed improbable has been flipped over its head.
The world has changed very rapidly. It's hard to keep up seeing things like this materialize.

I remember when I owned a 6 speed manual Corvette.
Now they don't make them with a manual, so I own an M3. I also think the new C8 look sucks. |
