I'll go ahead and comment now before this thread gets closed, but given that stereotypes have life breathed into them by the individuals of each ethnicity that personify them daily (I'm black, for reference), this is honestly just a case of circumstantial satire that happened on a national stage, albeit tactless.

Obviously due to the fact that the stage was national, no blacks/Hispanics/Asians being nominated and underscoring this fact doesn't do this scenario any good. But this is nothing new.

Just my $0.02.

I think every race/nationality/ethnicity will find something to be offended by, if that is what they are looking for. Or, they can treat it as satire, farce... as it was intended.

As an Asian American, I didn't even know the oscars were this week. I thought it was already over months ago when will and jada made all that fuss (heard through the grapevine).

Opportunity for roles is one thing, but this controversy is about winning awards. Can somebody please tell me what movies/roles everybody thinks should have been nominated? Beast's of no nation was not eligible. I heard Will Smith was not very good, to put it nicely, in Concussion. I didn't see/hear much about Straight Outta Compton so i'm open to hearing how that was, and who might have been so amazing in it. I'm sure there are others, but literally every time this comes up, those are the only 3 anybody mentions, black or white.
