and btw the movie theater is in front of the i75 and that 4.5 miles is enough to go from the exit to the other exit and come back

but like a said before at night is safer to park the car in the valet because the parking lot is really big and it does not have that much light and there is always kids and too much jealousy and like 2 years ago someone broke one of my windows of my old car with a BB gun and I have people telling me that they always key cars etc... so in this place is safer to park in valet
The Revo Select SPS unit has the "valet" feature if you have a turbo charged car and revo programming (~$500, but if u own a turbo and an audi you should be chipped); it has a theft deterent system, basically wont let the car run and locks out all hp. the valet mode opens up the wastegate and kill power after 1/2m. great feature to have!

shiv, is this possible on an E9X?

Hmmm...do you have a GPS, one that records tracks? Next time you give the valet your car turn on the GPS - you can see exactly where they took the car and max speed...handy for those of you have teenage kids. Any of the Garmin hand-helds (Etrex) will work just fine...

1. Why do you go to a theatre that you know is unsafe?
2. Why do let a valet park your car?

Wrong as it is, and deplorable as it is, valets are generally scumbags. Now you know better, so if you go there again you have no right at all to complain.

Yeah, but not a good idea. A hand held Garmin left in the car for the valet? What do you 'spose the chances are that it would be there when you get the car back? You could buy some good crack with a stolen Garmin.

That'd be nice but it only stops them from getting into the glove box. You'll need an aftermarket chip with a valet mode that'll keep the speeds limited to 40 and boost (if it's turbo) to zero.

It would be great if the valet key could be selectively limited to three different levels which can be set when a "Regular" drivers key is in the ignition.
Level one might be 20 mph @ 2500rpm max.
Level two maybe 30 mph @3000rpm max.
Level three maybe 60mph @ 4000rmp max.

Level three might be the perfect setting to let a teen drive a 335i. Just enough to make it fun, not so much as to make it as dangerous.
Imagine the surprise on the valet's face when he stomps on the gas and it stops at 20mph! Haha, dumb bastard!

I have had multiple incidents with valets. A couple with cars I cared about and a couple with ones I didn't care about. Most events were strictly kids who were just screwing around with something they couldn't possibly afford. Fortunately the incidents with the "good" cars didn't cause any damage, but I was watching out just as the OP did and caught them fucking around. My jeep got dinged a few times in one incident, but I didn't even notice till I got home. The last incident was a full-on bump to the concrete pole when backing out of a space too fast. They admitted to it right away and paid for the damage along with dinner.

My preferred valet situation is where they park the cars right out front. Don't really care if I get my key back, but just knowing they only drove it 50 feet in plain view, makes you turn and walk right in.

OP you should have busted their balls for no better reason than to improve the service. Too bad they didn't take care of you better on their own!

I'm certain you drove faster than 60mph when you were a teenager.

OH HELL YES I DROVE FASTER THAN 60 WHEN I WAS A TEEN, but that was a POS I bought myself. I'm talking that one special occasion when they may have earned something special and you let them take the car out for an hour to show off.

Just a little piece of mind. My kid ain't no angel! I love him but he would be doing 65 in a 25 if I gave him the keys on his own!

That would be a great series of videos. Just go around valet parking a Ferrari with a limp control and a hidden camera. I bet there would be some fun footage!

I think I'll do that once I get my first Ferrari. It would be worth it for the mass lol'ing that would result.

Exactly. I don't valet cars if its not necessary, but some restaurants where it isn't a choice or downtown at hotels where it isn't worth the effort to me to find a place to park, you have to. Better places will park all cars in a visible lot so that you can watch them park it.

Here is an idea. Don't hand the keys to your 40k + luxury automobile to a complete stranger. It's always good to have a cheap, efficient, and common DD to take to such places. If it would have been an Accord or some other typical saloon you wouldn't have to worry about it. Unless the Bimmer is your cheap DD (IE you have a Porsche/Ferrari/M/ETC in the garage) I'd park it only at places like your job or other places that you really don't have anything to worry about.

The GPS can be hidden in the trunk - an external antenna goes up to the roof..I am pretty sure that with the valet key you can't get into the trunk...there is also a cheaper version of the Garmin (Foretrex) which only costs a 100 dollars....

They can get into the trunk if there is the fold down through-load rear seat. Just open the though-load hatch, reach around to the latches, and viola! You've got full access to the trunk. There is nothing to lock this out.

That sounds great. But in my pessimistic mind I picture the valet rolling along in 1st gear to the parking lot exit, fast traffic going by, he stomps on the throttle to jump into the lane ahead of traffic, and can't go past 20mph. It could be the end of your automobile.

FWIW, I worked my way through college as a valet at a country club and that is when I developed my love affair with BMW's.

I can tell you from my experience that it is the people who refused to allow us to park their cars that had a greater chance of having something unfortunate happen to their car than those who did.

talking about the cupertino one right? i hate the valet there (actually i hate all valet). i always find a near by spot to park and just walk it.

on the subject of movies and bay area, be careful with mercado in santa clara. a lot of theft happens there (break-in's and stolen vehicles) in the parking lot and near by mission college parking lot at night.
