Hey, do what I do. Drive to the movie rental place and then back home to watch it. Actually, netflix kinda killed that idea and there's nothing like the big screen experience. I too find movie theater parking lots to be some of the worst places for cars. Any car. Actually, you can say that about all parking lots, but movie theater ones make me more paranoid for some reason.

When you first drop off the car, make sure the valet guy sees you take a photograph of the odometer with a cellphone camera. Then, when the car is returned, have the valet guy watch you take another photograph of the odometer. You should be able to view both on camera. If it is an unreasonable increase, have him explain it then and there to his manager.

That will keep them from joyriding, yes.

But, IMHO, you are now openning up the door for other sorts of abuse. If you get the kind of kid who is going to disrespect other people's property, he'll find a way to do it somehow. By pulling the camera, you are sending the message that you think you've outsmarted him. Get the wrong kid, and he's definitely going to take you up on that challenge. Lot's can go on while you are sitting in the theatre for 2 hours. For example, your odometer cannot tell you if the guy drops the clutch at 7000 RPM or cranks the volume on your stereo up to max for 30 minutes.

Don't valet your cars, people. Way, way too many haters out there.

Maybe they just had a couple of 1/4 mile run with 2 out of 3 run plus the winner (your 335) goes around the block to take the winner's customary lap (or doughnut).

One time in Vegas I used the valet at every hotel I visited based on a recommendation from my friend who lives there stating it was so much easier and faster than parking myself, and cheap as it only cost a $ for tip.

Well, when I got back home from my 4 day trip and washed my car, I found a shitload of dings and stratches that were not there before the trip. Never again.

I put aftermarket wheels on my Celica and then invested in a set of Gorilla locks. These require a special key that looks like a socket that fits into the lugwrench. The great part of the set was there were sixteen locking lugs on the car using the same key.

You simply don't tip the valet. Tell them why you're not tipping them and if that's not satisfactory to them, speak with the manager. Best not to antagonize them too much. They'll do what they want.
