AirBag light on-Restrain Error
I have an 05 545i sports package. Airbag light came on all of a sudden then on idrive screen shows restrain system malfunction. Does anyone get this before and what was the cause? what would be the option of fixing it? thanks for any help..

Restraint System Malfunction Error
This is a common problem in the 5 series, I have heard many are covered under the recall and many are not.
There has been a significant long thread on the 5series.net forum that you can look for. The error is supposedly caused by a sensor going bad which is under the mat of the passenger seat, cost of replacement ranges from 1100/-- to 1300/-- at the dealer Last edited by theracerboss; 02-28-2011 at 04:07 PM.. |

I had a similar problem on my E90 so bought a bypass module from www.bmwairbagmodule.com
It worked a treat and my passenger seat always shows occupied now. Happy days. |

It's the seat mat most of the time, i had the same issue and it ended up being my crash sensor cables were cut, thanks to the moron who installed the HIDs .. or so the techs said, and charged me 500 to fix it .. fml
