Restraint System Malfunction Error

This is a common problem in the 5 series, I have heard many are covered under the recall and many are not.
There has been a significant long thread on the 5series.net forum that you can look for.
The error is supposedly caused by a sensor going bad which is under the mat of the passenger seat, cost of replacement ranges from 1100/-- to 1300/-- at the dealer

I had a similar problem on my E90 so bought a bypass module from www.bmwairbagmodule.com
It worked a treat and my passenger seat always shows occupied now. Happy days.
