Yes I realize that, I’m just talking about known, confirmed cases of this new bug and their fatality/ survivability percentages. As far as predicting the future of incoming, we don’t know, what we don’t know. That’s what we do know.

I'm wondering if this spurs a new era of work-from-home. I mean if you think about it, it should reduce cost to some extent (although there would likely be some reimbursement issues) and it's better for the environment of course. Being primarily a service-oriented industry I think the U.S. is ripe for a lot more work from home.

I heard in NBC News that 7% of those who were tested have tested positive. I’ve been wanting that information for a while because xx number of cases is a lot different when 2x that number were tested vs. 10x.

It also means a lot of people are wasting test resources unnecessarily.

So from what I've heard from public health officials and folks that seem to be in the know the fatality rates won't be properly determined for about 2 years when the stats actually get calculated. Just take a step back and think about this, they have no idea how many people are infected, many many of the infected don't realize they are, and if they aren't showing clear signs then they won't even be tested (therefore confirming they are infected), so what the experts are saying is somewhere around .5% fatality rate is likely more realistic. Still a high number but not the 7-8% some are reporting.

Yes, this is bad. The big concern is overwhelming the healthcare system and disrupting supply chain.

The best news I heard and saw was about the reduction in pollution all around the world as factories shut down from China to Spain.
Air quality seems to be rapidly improving in some areas.
That's good news I think.

This. I've been super productive the past two days working from home and our collective IT skills are growing like crazy as we're deep-learning how to use all these tools we've taken for granted. I gotta say, Microsoft Teams is damn slick and works wonders for meetings.

And I'm thankful I live in a small town. There's some ridiculous hoarding going on, like the stupid TP mania, but otherwise there are very few shortages which can't be worked around.

Someone pointed out today that the price of gas is way down. With all of us working from home, WGAF? If this keeps up, my last fill-up, which was last week sometime, might last me a month or two.

Local supermarket reserves 6-8AM for seniors. Damn good idea.

Hopefully the old farts get some TP before it's gone.

I agree... there are so many jobs these days that can be work from Home... it would save the environment, save people's money on gas, save on corporate overhead, allow more rental space to be used for housing, people could live wherever they want... I could go on and on... technology these days is amazing and there are a million reasons people should not have to go to the office.

I think about my own company... literally no one except the sales people need to leave their home... do a quarterly team meeting with all team members in a central area of the country and done...boom

That being said I'm struggling to stay positive about the situation as it's very likely going to screw up my Performance Center Delivery and weekend in Asheville afterward. Missing out on a weekend in the mountains with your brand new Bimmer is a big deal when you live in FL and 10 hours from the nearest mountain.

Thanks for this thread, it is a great idea.

Positives:
- low gas prices (more related to Saudi-Russia price war, but thank you anyway)
- less traffic
- less air pollution from less traffic and less electricity consumption
- time with loved ones because kids are home from school and many people are working from home
- this too shall pass. It has already passed for China.

I also think I'd log more hours if I worked from home. I'd essentially be "always on," which may actually be a detractor.

Agreed the 2% isn’t what most expected and sort of reassuring I’d say and you’re correct on my influenza number it was off, I stand and corrected, thanks.

Unless you're an investor for whom the panic has wiped out years, even decades, of diligence and delayed gratification. I've been forced to confront the fact that I didn't drink enough, do nearly enough coke, or bang nearly enough slutty women in the '80s and '90s.

I'm in the market for a used Z06. Good news is that used car prices in this segment may come down significantly in the next couple of months.

I've kept all of my retirement in a savings account or put towards my rental properties, guess I lucked out as I see 401k's and investments being slammed.

Uhm, this is the encouraging thread for sort of good news in these trying times. I’m really trying to forget what I lost since this bug bomb hit Wall St.
