Do any of you greenthumbs have a preferred chemical for killing Bahia grass/weed that is trying to take over my St. Augustine grass? Found some stuff on Google but was wondering if anyone had first hand success stories.

No first hand success with Bahia. I recommend looking into Image for St. Augustine, or maybe RoundUp for Lawns, to see if either kill Bahia (I don’t know). But wait until fall to spray it.

Ive got a Buckhorn Plaintain issue in my backyard I am attempting to remedy through chemical use. Ill follow back up with any and all results.

I was attempting to take out all my poison ivy and vines through manual labor, but its just so tedious and I am sick of the rash, so I have resorted to chemicals on that front too.
The war rages on here.

What Would Yard Freaks Do?

Scenario: next door neighbors are having an open house today. Despite this being one of the top desirable neighborhoods and their house listed almost $20/ft cheaper than the norm for our neighborhood (dammit!), they’ve been having some difficulties selling. Most homes are under contract within the first week with my other neighbor just closing a couple weeks ago. I list the back story as it’s a driver in my reaction.

Listing agent is setting things up for it right now, and my wife and I just got home to see the agent’s car parked in front of our house, but with nearly all four wheels in my grass. Now I’ll say that I bust tail to keep my yard up and is one of the best looking in the neighborhood. That said. The first 10 feet is technically an easement even though I maintain it.

So I ask, WWYFD?

I’d nicely ask her to move the car off the grass.

You have every right to not only ask her to move. But also ask what made her think it would be okay to do so?

I spend lot's of time, effort and money to keep my yard looking immaculate. And I would be Pissed and definitely speak up.

80 bags of eucalyptus mulch delivered yesterday. Heat index at 102 already. Gonna take a couple of days to get all the bags down.

Mostly due to big beds. Actually takes 120 bags to do everything when it really needs it. I usually have lawn guys do it right before Christmas but they did a terrible job last year and I couldn’t deal with seeing bare spots anymore. I got through 39 today and almost finished the front before the heat got to me. Need to start super early tomorrow a.m.

Smile

If you are familiar with this delicate flower, you know how beautiful but difficult it is to grow. Especially in this blistering Texas heat!

But I was indeed able to save this one.

Not really a yard freak myself, but my wife loves to tinker with it. I have hundreds of photo's of her flowers and the yard over the last 15 years we have been here.

just spent a pretty good deal of time the last 3 days in the yard. de thatched, aerated and did some overseeding using GCF's blend of tall fescue with some starter fertilzer to get it off on the right foot

^ That looks like a lot of work. I’m done for now until temps moderate in late Sept or early October.

Could be that or brown patch I’m not sure. I have always used a stuff from Home Depot (Disease-X) when I see signs of a problem, but have not treated areas that large. I would rely on the local extension office to diagnose and advise before throwing anything on it. Good luck!

Also for the foamy stuff, look into Spittlebugs. We don’t have them down here but was just reading about them a little after seeing your pic.
