Spring needs to hurry the ef up so I can get outside and enjoy the outdoors instead of being cooped up doing house projects

I mowed my lawn for the first time this year yesterday. With all the rain we've had I was afraid I was going to have hay growing before I could mow. Dropped a few dead trees on the side lot while I was out to. It was nice to have a day to kick around the yard and get some work done without being rushed.

Alright let's talk grass....not the smoking kind either ya weirdos.

Right now I'm trying in vain to wipe out the St. Augustine in my yard through cutting it at 1.20" (the lowest setting) and get Bermuda to grow. I've seeded my entire yard multiple times in the past and this year it looks like it's coming in nicely.

I put down some Vigoro weed and feed for Bermuda and not St. Augustine (says it'll kill it) and well it looks like yes, it is killing the St. Augustine. I just may need to seed my backyard again.

So yea, what grass types does everyone here prefer? The only reason I prefer Bermuda is because well I have 2 dogs....and certain things are easier to pick up if the grass is densely packed and short. LOL

I have St. Augustine and hate it. Looks like we will eventually need to look into making a switch because it could get wiped out:

https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/2...ncurable-virus

I replaced our front lawn (St. Augustine to St. Augustine) 2 years ago and it very well may have had that disease before I replaced it, meaning it will return. Right now, my lawn looks far better than all my neighbors. I handle pest control, fertilizing and weed control myself. Someone else cuts it. Even if it doesn't have this disease now, it probably will get it from the lawn guys spreading it around.

I planted probably close to a dozen avocado trees before I got one to survive and thrive and they are SO good!!

I went to a nearby housing area where people were always selling from their backyards, and spoke to one older gentleman. He asked "Do you have a rusty nail near the base of the trunk?"
"No, can't really get a trunk large enough that I think I could do such a thing"
"Put the nail in, keeps the gophers from eating the roots"
And the rest is guacamole!!!!

I have tall fescue which leaves great stripe lines! just bought some plant fertilizer for all the shrubs, trees and tulips yesterday. skipping the Milorganite since they went up in price form $12.84 to $15.24 a bag gonna give this a try for this season from Menards

also skipping the Scott's Triple pre-emergent/fertilizer for Menard's brand at $35 per bag. tired of dropping $62 a bag for Scott's when this bag that has more iron and phosphorous.

Looks great TXSTYLE ! I can’t wait for “spring” here in a couple of months.
I’m not allowed to have fushias because the 7year old in me likes to “pop’ the unopened blossoms before they fully open I think k I’ll sneak some in for fun this year anyway.

+1. And then if you suck on the stamen of a few open ones, you'll have even MORE energy to pop some more. . . until the street lights come on.
