I certainly had countless upchuck days as well as a teen and in my 20's. But that 35th birthday of mine was EPIC!!! All I remember was shot after shot of Grand Marnier, Cognac, and some Tequila shots thrown in there. I can't remember my actual BAC level, but I remember my wife telling me the ER Dr saying that it was a good thing I was there.
Nowadays, I make it a point to drink water along with my alcohol. And never exceed 8-10oz of liquor. Drinking to get Drunk days are over!
How much is 8-10oz bottle wise?

I think shooting them back to back to back aka bday parties are fun but sipping on a bottle or more throughout a period of a few hours is pretty relaxing!

So how does it compare to the name brand? At that price I'm going to have to try all three - highland, speyside, laphroiag.

It's pretty close to hpark. No complaints from me. I can't even tell the difference. Maybe if I did back to back sips but not when just having either or. It's clean.

I can't remember the last time I actually did a shot. Instead I buy a decent <insert alcohol here> and sip it. Even tequila is for sipping, unless I order a diabetic Cadillac (tequila, grand marnier, and triplesec over rock, plenty of salt)

Need a good bourbon suggestion for tonight. I'm heading out to the local liquor store, but they don't have the top shelf scotch. They have a decent selection of Kentucky and Tennessee stuff, though. Fire away.

Well if you think of a typical fifth of liquor or 750ml, 10oz would be almost half. I agree on the shots. I will on rare occasions. But I am all about sipping my drinks. That is why cognac and ultra premium rums are my preferred spirits.

Not a bourbon drinker but keep several bottles on the bar for friends. They rarely touch the Jack or Makers and seem to go for the Knob Creek or Buffalo Trace. Just bought a bottle of Bookers as well but she remains a virgin!

Nice - but gotta disagree on no more than 8-10oz! That's like a Monday for me somtimes. Shieeeet! I should probably tone it down now.

Keep in mind... I'm 45 now and have had MANY nights of "drinking debauchery" These days, a mellow buzz is all I need.

I've been meaning to try Knob Creek and since it got two mentions here, I'll check it out.

Thanks, gentlemen.

I do have a bottle of Woodford Reserve as well! Kind of hidden behind some of my scotch bottles so I missed that one! If you want to go high brow, I have a bottle of 1961 Grand Armagnac... Got it from my late father, just waiting for the right occasion to open it!

Hmm.... My bottle is not the "single barrel" variety you got! I'm sure it will be excellent!

They had a bottle of this high above and behind the cash register. Doesn't sound like it's worth the $100 price tag.

Maybe if I really appreciated bourbon... but even then, yeah I doubt it's worth $100, at least to me!

The Aberlour 18 is around $80. That is some very smooth stuff. It's worth it once in a while instead of the 12. I can't see the Yellowstone being more enjoyable than the Aberlour 18.
