Happy 4th of July!

Happy independence day to the greatest country in the world! It's not perfect, but its far better than any other place in the world. Let's keep it that way. Take this from an immigrant.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy the day off and celebrate with family and friends with some proper BBQ, at least that's how I plan on spending mine. Few racks of baby back ribs will be on the grill soon.

Happy 4th to everyone. I'm blessed in that I get to enjoy the views from the pics above year round since I live close to the area.

Everyone be safe!

Parade today - more fun @ lake and then grilling and fireworks later... hope to sneak in a workout as well.

Where to begin, my friend. You want deserts, sun-soaked beaches? Snow capped mountains? God this nation is rich in natural beauty. Where else can you find such variation in landscape?

Of course I can wax poetic about Americans being the most earnest, hard-working bunch of people, or the opportunity rich welcoming culture... but come on. I think in all this mess of human life, we forget how truly beautiful and magnificent this land is.

You know, as I type this, I am thinking I am going to take my wife and our kids out to the "northshore" of the great state of MN next week.

Where else in the world can you have 3 M3's lol. Jokes aside...I have lived here in VA for 21 years now. This country gave me a place to call home when no other place did. I got an opportunity to go to college here, paid it myself w student loans and working full-time while in school full-time. No one ever looked down on me because of my name or accent. This country took me in as one of its own.

Prior to moving here I lived in Munich, Germany as an immigrant too. As great as that place was, I didn't provide any of the opportunities USA did for me.

If you work hard, are a law abiding citizen, opportunities here are endless. Sure, playing field might not be completely level, and not all of us can reach certain aspects of success, but ALL have a fair shot at successful life to have a good job, house, car, etc...who ever says otherwise is lying. Btw my start in this country was govt assisted housing and food stamps.

So yes 'merica is the best!!!

This is absolutely the truth. Not only on an institutional level, but people on an individual level bend over backward to give you a chance here, no matter who you are.

In my experience that alone is an absolute testament to the fairness of this culture. I am glad you said; it is a fitting concept given this discussion.
