530d Won't crank - won't start. help!
Hello everyone - new forum member here looking for help.
I have a 2005 530d, I am the second owner, FSH, 60k miles. Car runs reliably and always starts on the button.. until yesterday it was due to go in for a service and went to start it up and it was dead - typical! Console/radio/dash signals coming on but car will not start. No turnover, no clicking, nothing. Console/radio/dash signal go off and come on again etc. Have tried to jump start and tried charging battery but makes no difference. I have noticed there is a high pitch electronic type noise/buzz/ring that is coming from around the engine bay, and even after locking the car and 30mins + the green led for window lock is not turning off. I am wondering if a relay/switch is stuck on and the car is not shutting down all systems and there is a battery drain..? Can you help? Is there a way to diagnose/fix myself easily? Any help highly appreciated as am stuck without a family car! Thanks in advance - Ronnie Last edited by ronnie-space; 01-07-2023 at 03:10 PM.. |

I took the battery off the car in the end to charge, and after a full charge all was OK.
Charging on the car, or through the battery charging points in the engine compartment was not the way to go with a trickle charger. |

The high-pitched electronic noise and the green LED that is not turning off after locking the car are both signs of a possible electrical problem. The noise could be coming from a number of different sources, such as the power window motor, the alarm system, or the central locking system. The green LED is typically controlled by the central locking system, so if the LED is not turning off, it is likely that there is a problem with the central locking system.
It is important to have the car checked by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible to determine the cause of the problem. If the problem is not addressed, it could lead to further damage to the electrical system of the car. Click here for more info... |
