The idea for this movie is pretty original but then I realized if anyone actually thought it through before, they would have purged it. The biggest flaw in this concept is that how can society function like that for just 12 hours and then everything goes back to normal the next day? If you tried to kill your boss and you end up raping his wife and shitting on his bed how the hell does someone show up at work the following day and his boss doesn't fire him or kill him? Impossible.

i must admit that i actually spent money and saw this movie last night. instead of enjoying the movie, i was very aggravated and couldn't wait to leave. this movie is very gimmicky. it used all the tricks from previous thriller movies.

Humans are very adaptive by nature. Yes it may be tough to "switch gears" the first time, but have it for few years, and it becomes just part of normal life.

You think you would, but more likely than not you'll think many, many times before "unleashing basic instincts and getting even" simply because there's retribution - either the law, or its substitutes. Worst movie I've seen in my life..i have to vent out. Seriously like how do you have some your daughters boyfriend sneak into your house and not even know! I hope this shit only happens in movies because you'd have to be an idiot if you wonder what your daughter is doing in her room for hours. Next thing, the whole basis of the movie is so stupid...the neighbors want to kill them because they expanded their house with the money they EARNED from selling the security systems, uhhh welcome to capitalism..where you spend what you earn. Oh and how stupid do you have to be to let a random homeless in your house during purge..like I know they want to make the movie more exciting by dumbing the characters down but there's a line, that's just too stupid! And then how are you going to go about letting your daughter run around the house with a hobo in there and just let her go "oh mom I can't stay here, I have to leave" uhh sweetie you're in a house where do you plan to run? acting like she's in the freakin wild. This movie had so much potential...like if they took it outside of the house and onto the streets. They went in the wrong direction with the movie but they made their $..heard they had such a small budget and their revenue was insanely huge. All they did was cram all the good parts in the trailer and the movie was terrible. Other than that the movie, some parts were okay. The twist where the neighbors weren't actually there to help. Also what the wife did at the end...respectable. The part when the homeless saved the day was good too. /rant

ohh actually having a real 'purge' is a stupid idea and doubt it would ever reduce crime rates, if that happened to my family I'd seek revenge even if the purge was over. In the end I left the movie angry...it wasn't even because I spent $13 on a stupid movie. Just the movie made me pissed

Loved the idea. I think this basically comes down to the rich vs the poor. Rich will try their best to protect, the poor will try to get as much as they can. This would probably take a good 2-3 months prior to prepare and also and 2-3 months after to clean up the mess. There's goes half a year.
