Anyone here go mountain biking?
Was talking to a freind who does it qutie a bit, and I havent been in a good while. Anyways, I no longer have a bike for mountain biking and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for some good, high quality bikes out there? I would ask one of my best freinds, but he's quite busy being a frat boy at the moment, he's got some mountain bike made of carbon fiber... uber cool!

Hey....i just started. I am a complete noob...literally just got my first bike this past week. I have a buddy who is very much into both road racing, and moutain biking...he does various triathalons and some IronMan races. Well, he helped me put together my bike because I was completely clueless.
I love it....my conditioning still has a way to go.. I got so freaking exhausted on my first outing on it Anyways....I got an Ellsworth Moment. I can send you more details if you want. Good luck.

that would be cool dude! I'm looking for something that would be versatile, as i won't always be out in the hills, even though they're right behind my house. I took a look at Cannondales' website, lots of options but I need to fine more...
please keep the comments/suggestions coming in... |

I mountain bike- sort of. I have a mountain bike, and sometimes my friends and I go to our lake house up in Shasta and we mountain bike. It's a lot of fun but it's also tiring and sometimes unsafe. I actually got 13 stitches on my arm from mountain biking a few years ago. SAVAGE SPORT.

Being bit by a shark sounds a lot better than, "Oh, I got these stitches when I fell of a bike." |

Really? Man...13 stitches is not really quite enough for a shark bite..LOL!
But then again...I guess most people do not know any better. Must be a nice scar you have if people buy the shark line.

I'm a big fan of the Gary Fishers. I ride a HKEK myself.
Are you looking for a hardtail, or a full suspension? http://fisherbikes.com

I have been mountain biking since the 80's and even did some racing until med school. Now I hardly have any time. I have a full suspension Cannondale hanging from the roof in the garage and mostly use my hardtail when I get to go out (it's lighter).
First you have to see what kind of riding you will be doing. For mostly flat trails go with a hardtail. If you don't mind the extra weight a full suspension will be more comfortable, especially for fast , rocky downhills. Most name brand bikes will have good choices. Make sure you get one with good components (Shimano LX has good performance/value) and go to a real bike shop, they will help you out. |
