E60 Post. I'm looking to get an E60 M5. questions for owners.

Hi all.

I currently own a 2007 335i hard top convertible. I'm 26, and I think it's time for a 4 door car.

I was originally going to get an F10 M5, however, I made the mistake of test driving an E60 M5, and that sold me over. amazing car. what I am trying to figure out is if there were any major differences to the different years of the E60 M5.

I'm currently looking at a pretty well maintained 2006. All stock, no mods. Mainly serviced at the dealer. 59,000 miles.

I know the issues of the platform. Rod bearings (though I do believe this issue is slightly overblown) throttle body actuators, VANOS issues...etc.

Would a 2006 be a safe bet, or is there things that were done better say in a 2010?

The car currently has 20w 50 racing oil. The only worry I have is the thicker oil could quiet potential rod knock, but I also see there's quite a few people who do that for this car even though the factory oil recommendation was 5w 40 ( but I believe BMW actually changed this recommendation).

Give me some advice. I appreciate the help.
