Family Recipes

I was having a conversation with someone, and recipes came into mind. What are some of your family's recipes?

My mom's Kalbi (Korean BBQ) recipe:

Per 1lb of meat use...
3 spoon soy sauce (get Kikkoman's light, it's the less saltier one)
1 spoon white sugar
1 spoon sesame oil
A pinch of ginger
Three cloves of diced garlic
1/4 of minced onion or 1/2 kiwi (NEVER use both)
Pinch of black pepper (or if you're making a large batch, just use a spoon of it)

It tastes the best after 40 hours of marination, but 7 will suffice if you're in a hurry.

I LOVE KOREAN BBQ RIBS. SO BOMB.

Anyway.. pesto + pasta is so bomb. you boil pasta then mix it in with pesto sauce.

I saute minced garlic and shallots in extra virgin olive oil, add in pine nuts, crushed red pepper, and pears in a frying pan.

Prepare linguini noodles a dente on the side. Drain well

Add in chopped clams, the pasta, chopped mint to the frying pan. Pour extra olive oil with garlic salt to taste. Top with parmesan cheese and slivered basil leaves. Serve with a Chardonnay or nice Cabernet.

My grand/grandmother(RIP)won a prize with a German cauliflower whatever soup around 1900 (105 years ago) she invented, somewhere....I'll ask my father about it.

My grandmother used to make it too twice a year or so.

Grandma Robinson left us the killer pumpkin pie recipe, which I improved upon just a bit. It;s a basic pumpkin pie recipe, but she added a twist of gently heating the whole mixture before pouring into the pie shells. My addition was to always use lots of FRESH ginger root. After all that turkey and stuff, you need lots of ginger to settle things down and move them through.

AHahah.. Have you guys ever tried making something random?

I tried making spaghetti sauce with like.. diced tomatoes and i smashed them up really welll but it didnt taste good. It tasted like watered down tomato sauce with chunks of tomatoe.

I almost burnt my house down last week making mac n cheese.

Seriously, we all should go out to Joshua Tree for a weekend BMW gourmet camp out in the desert. It's rockclimbing season out there this time of year.

Not sure I or the wife could cook "gourmet" in a campground, but maybe in the spring when all the flowers bloom? It looks like it might be another wet winter. I know she could hook us up with the albondigas or caldo de camarones over a campfire!!!
