Ordering a 2010 550i, thoughts?
Hey guys, rarely post on here, but wanted to give some info on my next car. Seems the E60 forum is dead cause I've been researching my car for months and didn't really find much info on the 2010 models.
2010 550i M-Sport Carbon Black Metallic Black/Creme Beige Dakota Bamboo Anthracite Wood M Sport Package Sport Auto Transmission Cold Weather Package Logic 7 Audio Value Package (new iDrive Navigation, HD Radio, IPOD USB) Heated Rear Seats Power Rear Sunshade Comfort Access Lane Departure Warning Auto High Beam Assisst Park Distance Control Head Up Display Dealer is selling me the car for $1000 over invoice. Thought that was very fair. Was unsure of my next car after the E92. Thought about a 135i, considered an M3, somehow decided on this. The M-Sport for the final year of the E60 is very similar to the 540i M Sport that was produced in 2003. Options on this car that are only available for the final model run are M Steering Wheel, M footrest, Anthracite Headliner (dealer said it MIGHT be Alcantara) New Hard Drive based Navigation, etc. I also ordered the leather color that is unique for '10 only. I feel safe knowing BMW has worked out all the kinks on this car and it's much better than buying the new and most likely much more expensive redesign, plus I don't feel like waiting. Gotta say, took 1 test drive for me to realize how AMAZING this car is. Even though I'm aware the 535i is more fuel efficient, more modern with its Direct Injection and Bi-turbo's, something about the 550i speaks to me. Pushes you into the seat much more dramatically than the 535i. Also the 19' sport rims can't be beat. Very excited, will post pics and info the second I get it. If anyone has pics or thoughts, would love to hear from you! Thanks

Aside from the HD based navigation, you could get a similarly optioned 2008 M5 for less money. Though the M5 is a night and day difference from the rest of the 5 series line. Just something to consider

Thanks for the replies guys. Not interested in an M5. Really dislike the SMG transmission and not interested in spending 70 grand on a used car. Don't track my cars and I live in the midwest, so not many places to USE that V10. If I were to buy an M car, it would be the M3, but don't really need that level of performance.
I also think the M aerodynamic kit and 19' rims look dare I say better than the M5. Only mod I'm planning on doing is tinting the windows, taking off the run flats and maybe a decklid spoiler.

those 172 wheels don't come with RFT's..so no need there..
I'm a big fan of the FI engine over the NA..but to each his own...congrats...be sure to stop 5series.net if you are looking to learn a little more about your incoming toy...even some cheap inexpensive mods (charcoal air filter removal, MAF cleaning, etc) it's a great 5 series/e60 forum site with tons of info. Perhaps I'll see you over there as well (same username)

Nice...
You spec'd your car the exact way I would get one. I love that combo of carbon black with the beige/black interior. Is that interior color only available with the M-sport package? I'm debating on my next Bimmer. My current 330i's CPO warranty will expire around May 2011 and I may move on at that time. I also contemplated an M3, but with 2 small kids, it might be more practical to move up to a 5-series. I really like how the 2010 550i looks with the M-sport package. It took a while for me to finally like the looks of the e60's. If you're getting a good deal on a 2010 then I would go for it. I wish I could see how an F10 looks like. By the time I'm ready to get my next car the e60's are already going to be "outdated". Enjoy!!!
