help....where to go from here?
hi i have a 2007 m5 and it was sitting for a couple years. I had the battery replaced and registered, and I had a light and limp mode. I took it to the shop and had both throttle actuators replaced. When i drove it, it drove fine but if i let it idle for 20 seconds at a stoplight, the check engine light comes on and sometimes goes into limp mode. if i restart it and drive it goes away unless i let it sit and idle again. I have replaced all the coils and spark plugs and Maf sensors. It helped but didnt fix the issue. the other thing i notived is my hud stopped working. Could this be a software issue? any help with this would be really appreciated as I am already heavily into it budgetwise.

Hi Bud,
After dead battery all of the ecu's will throw a fault code. So if your dash looks like a Christmas tree don't panic. After deleting these faults some of the hardware on the car needs to be recalibrated/adaption reset/relearn (like setting date and time after CMOS battery replacement, it cannot know otherwise what time it is) the problem will keep coming back otherwise even after replacing the part 1000 times, which was not needed in your case I'm afraid of. So, not just delete the codes but do also adaptation of certain hardware that keeps showing a fault. Greets Taylyan |
