In between “major” haircuts at the groomer, they get baths and nail clips at home or at the groomer. Usually they are bathed every 2-3 weeks. Grooming with a “major” haircut is usually about 4-5x / year, and I try to time some before we go to Asheville where they tend to get filthy so shorter hair is best.

Congrats again on the pup. Beautiful little girl!
Thanks buddy!

Hmmmmmm....
Samoyeds worked very closely with their traditional humans, and are multi-purpose working dogs. Humans could inhabit the northern Siberian lands only after they trained Samoyeds to help them. Pull, hunt, herd, guard, watch the children...
Huskies, bless their hearts, were made to run, fast & long!

Our dogs will only do those tricks if they think they're getting a treat. Makes me wonder who trained who.

They are also one of the few breeds that humans brought into the dwellings and would let them sleep on the beds (or, speaking from experience, is it the Sammies that let their humans sleep on the bed?).

They are an incredibly intelligence breed, but they do take more patience to train than other breeds, especially as puppies. We do AKC conformation and rally with ours, which can be an exercise in patience when training them. But, once they are trained, they can be incredibly loyal and very graceful in the ring.

Samoyeds do know how to manipulate humans very well! They just interact with humans well.
We characterize the breed as half Golden Retriever, because they are that good with children & people, and half Wolf, which they display in an understanding of the forest; they still have a primal streak which other breeds seem to lack.
We had help training Onslow (& Elsa & Little Bear before him) from a guy who used to train Jamaican police dogs! Onslow can do stores, outdoor dining, nursing homes... but being a little macho-stupid, he's not too good about dogs with nuts.

PS: Studies have shown treats work best!

Saw it in theaters when it came out

I'm a sucker for horse movies. Black Beauty (the original, not the new one) is one of my favorites.

100% accurate for dachshunds as well. Bella will just stand they're looking at you while you run through your whole library of commands. "Bella, come. Bella come, here. Bella, come here now. Bella, let's go. Bella, do you want to go?!" After about 20 seconds of that nonsense she'll then slowly turn and walk away.

Those are some beautiful German Shepherds. I want one just like that in the future. Such good dogs. I just for back from Denham Springs/Walker to Houston a week ago. It went from flip flop weather in the La to boots in Tx.

Furry firefighters? Samantha looks worn out. You mentioned she was your mother's. So it appears she's on the duty of looking after you (assigned by her owner) and that is exhausting.

Ha, you could say that. Samantha is 7yrs and Buck is 8 months old. Between Buck and Beaux (our 1 yr old German Shepherd not pictured) they wear EVERYONE out in this house hold.

I’m currently house hunting right now. Just moved back to Louisiana from DC two weeks ago today. Just might take Samantha with me, doubt my mom will allow it.

It's a hectic day for pets here in Dallas.
My dog enjoys the snow a little bit, but he had his stomach shaved for minor surgery, and has not grown all the way back. Probably has a cold tummy.
And then the fish........We lost power for about five hours. After hour three, I didn't know how much longer the power outage would last. I started doing small water changes with aerated water from my sink, which I also made warmer than the tank so the temperature wouldn't fall too much.

That pose, especially with the arm up and that expression, is very human like. Such a cute doggie.
