This weekend I’m heading to the shed to organize all the crap I have (car parts/tires, etc…) and move all the Christmas stuff up front. Henceforth, Thanksgiving weekend we’ll start decorating but I’m actually setting up my Lionel set first. Picked up a few more buildings/houses for the layout recently.

So flame me for starting way too early.

During our walk with the dogs last night, there were two houses in our neighborhood already decorated for Christmas. I'm already itching to start watching through my list of Christmas movies we watch every year. My feeling is "who cares". If it makes someone happy (and obviously isn't hurting anyone else) then let people do what makes them happy.

Agree. It's a very cheery time for a lot of people. Me included.

Happy times for friends and family to get together.

Christmas, like most holidays, feel special because of the build up and eventually the holiday. How long will it be before the build up starts in June and everyone just becomes desensitized to the holiday altogether? Putting up decorations in September leaves no feeling left for me by the time Christmas comes. I like the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the excitement.

BTW, I hear the new advent calendars start in September. LOL

Actually, that one came from BMW North America HQ in New Jersey.

Most of the emails that I get from said dealership are "special" offers to buy their service loaners, as well as invitations to driving events at their Monticello Motor Club corporate suite. Believe me, if my mean doctors would let me wear a helmet again, Monticello would be the *last* place I would be heading.

I do get a chuckle out of them sending me oil change specials by email and snail-mail every few months, since my only BMW (i3 BEV) doesn't even have an engine or need oil.....

My wife would have the tree up on the first day of Fall if I let her.

Tree is going up this weekend.

OK, I charged up the BT speaker, Pandora, Bing Crosby Christmas. Just 1/2 a song, to let the little youngin get used to what's coming. She turned on her country radio

We then proceeded to discuss A Christmas Story, and the fact she has never seen.

What is this world coming to????

Totally agree. It's not as if they started decorating in July, maybe call the psych ward there, but late Oct, I'm alright w it. Some of these guys really put in lots of effort decorating and they just wanna make full use of it, why have it up for display for only 1 week when they can have it shown for much much longer?
