I have no need for this & I absolutely abhor everything that the pick up truck identity has transformed into/ come to represent in America in today's age but I've always loved an honest, rugged/sporty midsize like the Tacoma. Hurray for retaining the 6MT.

Great job Toyota for keeping the manual, 6-foot bed option and short 2-seater cab. It will sell for sure. I'm sick of 5-foot beds with enormous super-max-crew cabs everybody building those days making 1/2 ton trucks massive compared to older generations.

It’s a nice looking truck.
I wonder what the prices will inflate to. Won’t be surprised to see the range topping milfhunter approach the 65k-70k mark, which the TRD broskies will have no problem paying. |

I'm sold on the TRD Pro. It'll probably be another year before I can get my hands on one due to availability but we'll see. Waiting for the customizer to come online and for dealerships to start taking pre-orders.

Taco is a great truck and this looks to continue the trend.
More interested in the next gen 4Runner which was relatively related to Taco and which is eagerly awaited by its fans including this writer. |

I still love my 2017, but I am really impressed with the improvements on the new generations of Tacoma, Colorado, and Ranger models. The manufacturers have really stepped up their game with the mid-size models.

Looks really good.
It better be a home run. The GMC Colorado is selling lights out. Canyon, not sure. It's missing things the GMC has. Power passenger seats can't be had on any Canyon. At least that's what I'm told.

Good looking truck and staying true to the Taco form. Hopefully they've addressed the wonky low driving position and added some additional legroom to the back seat. The "Toyota" on the dash is cheesy as hell. Why? Also holding my breath that these new turbo motors will meet the Toyota expectations for long term durability. The turbo motors in the Tundras have been a bit of problem.

Power passenger seat is available AT4 trim and up. New Canyon AT4 looks like a much nicer place to spend time in, than the Tacoma interior. GMC just looks more luxury. One thing the Tacoma could really beat Colorado/Canyon at...is mpg. Numbers aren't out yet though.

Right. And there's 3 power levels available for that same motor in both brands. AT4 is GMC. Chevrolet has no power passenger seats...period. Unless something changed in the last few weeks. Chevy interior is definitely sub the GMC. I want to drive the Denali. If possible and I love it, those droopy running boards are coming off immediately. I admire Toyota because of their consistency but I need that turbo for elevation of 7k+. And more power to the Japanese for building cars and not building cars while shoving some awakened crap at me. Probably them, Korea and Italy are the only ones staying out of it. If they built a mid truck with fi I'd ditch the GMC product idea. Not to say I won't stick to my guns and pass anyway. New Taco with single cab, long bed and turbo would be nice. Nothing but crew from GM. Pitty.

Did I misread?
"All the powertrains are based around 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines, with the i-FORCE MAX hybrid putting out the most power at 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque." Welp. Maybe I'll just hang loose and see what is what with these. Ok...this is flipping cool. Work? No idea, but it's still flipping cool. Shock seats!

If any truck was going to convince me to buy a truck, this would be it. Give me one in black and I'm going Back to the Future.

I was worried about this b/c the new Tundra's proportions are just....odd. I've seen one good looking one and it had a 3-5 inch lift. |

You do realize Chevy makes the Colorado and GMC makes the Canyon, right? I'm confused at which one you're actually talking about.
