I was so angry I tried to go after them but they were in a car so no luck. I'm afraid with the anger I have I would have shot at them (which in my mind would have been justified) or drove around the town until I found their car and did something stupid. What are the rules on home self defense? If they are just breaking in and you kill them its murder right? But if they have a weapon then it is self defense?

Damn this kind of shit gets me heated. I can only imagine your reaction. There's no way that if someone breaks into your house and you kill them then it's murder. How the hell can that be? They are asking to be shot/killed. How would that go anyway? You: "Sir, are you carrying a weapon? I need to know if it's okay by the law to fire at you." Robber: "Why, no I'm not." You: "Oh, okay, you take whatever you like, while I call the cops and they take forever to get here." And then he comes up and caps your ass. Genius. |

Neil... every state has different laws when it comes to self defense and protecting yourself in your house. I know that when I came from NY to NC the law was slightly different. They are usually something to the extent of "justication of deadly forced with immunity against criminal and civil prosecution can be used when..." The laws usually mention that you must not be able to retreat or you would otherwise be inflicted with great bodily injury or death if you did not use deadly force. You can google your own state laws to find out.

Which pistol are you referring to?
The "Judge" that I was talking about?

No the OP .38 I'd never trust something like that on a patrol, I'm just not a fan of revolvers but if it's something small you want to carry or a leg side arm for something on duty to compliment a semi-auto then ok. |

^ I like your taste... I'm a big sig fan. Once I get my damn NC license I'll be picking up a 9mm sig (most likely a P229). I like the platinum elite so I can shoot 'em in style ...

Nice man, I'm definitely a Sig fan as well. I saw the platinum version also, it looks good for sure. My buddy just picked up a .40 cal Glock 23, and I really liked the feel of it.
