Full disclosure: I am a gun owner.
I'm not sure either, and reports are very sketchy I don't think that claim has been fully verified. HOWEVER it would not surprise me at the least if people would have shot at them. I personally am a strong advocate of advanced gun safety and training before actual firearm ownership.

They arrested another man for questioning but then released him because he was a taxi driver who was just there at the time and had nothing to do with the shooting.

Giffords is in the hospital still recovering, however she has some serious swelling in the left (?) side of her brain.

Marijuana is more dangerous than many users acknowledge and less dangerous than portrayed by others.

I need to see if I can find the old movie "Reefer Madness". That could balance out my collection of Cheech & Chong movies.
You can NOT be serious, Scott. If I had not known you better reading your posts here before, I'd give you props for above statement being the biggest example of satire I have ever read anywhere.

I used to watch Reefer Madness in the school with buddies after smoking a big one. A Hysterically Funny Classic ....Nothing is funnier when you are buzzed.

Yeah terrible tragedy. I read somewhere today that the little girl that died had just been elected to the student council and her parents thought it would be a good learning experience for her to go to Rep. Giffords congress on your corner. So sad.

As for Sarah Palins 2010 election poster and verbal rhetoric regarding "targets" and "reloading" give me a break. I don't like Sarah Palin either but that is just ridiculous. This guy was just a plain and simple wack job. I hope he's brought to swift justice.

I have never seen Reefer Madness, though I have heard about it and saw some clips before. That's what I was talking about that it is not as bad as portrayed by others. I know very well the effects of marijuana, and it is true that it is often portrayed as harmless, when it often is not harmless.

Having said that, I support the federal government dropping it's prohibition of marijuana. Let the states handle it the way they want to at their own levels of government.

Correlation does not equal causation...
take for example the most common example. When ice cream sales go up, so do crimes

Correlation may be the wrong word. I was looking for a word that would not imply the studies have concluded there is a direct relationship between marijuana smoking and schizophrenia. Though I believe there to be some relationship. Scientific studies should be the best indicator of what that relationship is and how strong it is. I haven't reviewed the studies. Do you have any data?

The only thing that pseudo-scientifically has been proven about pot smoking is that 1) it causes severe case of "Munchiesnitis" and 2) it causes loss of short and long term memory - often getting confused with the smoker's laziness or not giving a f*ck attitude.

An ample dose of ice cream and Dorritos remedy the first one. They are working on a cure for the second one

You mighty as well say drinking alcohol causes schizo, because you're a different person when drunk. Same with Marijuana, you don't give a shit and just relaxed, not a totally different person that's shoots 18 people, Dude was crazy, and personally believe its because crazy people tend to do drugs and drink. Not the other way around.

Maybe that is the more likely thing, that crazy people tend to do drugs and drink.

But that is also way over-simplified. And to my knowledge, drinking does not lead to paranoia. Maybe in this day of medical marijuana use, paranoia wouldn't be as prevalent as in the "old" days. Some of the negative phycological effects of marijuana may be (in part) a result of its prohibition. Is it a far stretch from paranoia to schizophrenia?

I am not implying that marijuana use led the guy to mass murder. Though it may have contributed to his mental illness.

http://hellforleathermagazine.com/20...-motorcyclist/

Giffords was an avid motorcyclist and BMW owner.

Gun used- 9mm glock purchased 3 mo. prior. Fired 31 rounds before pausing to reload, woman went up and tore mag away from him, he then attempted to reload using another spare mag, spring in magazine failed and he was then tackled by two bystanders.

Suspect apparently has already met and spoke with Giffords a year or so previously.

Standard Glock 19 magazine holds 15 rounds although you can get the 17 round version (campact holds 13). Extended magazines used to be illegal but the law was allowed to lapse so you can now get the 33 round version. No need for a 33 round magazine that I can think of. Sometimes the laws just don't make sense.

Yeah he planned to kill everyone he could.
