Rotor weight on M340i

Hello everyone,

So i recently developed interest in reducing unsprung weight; new wheels and tires are in process.

Next step will be reducing weight on brakes.

Anyone know how much the stock M340i brake discs weigh? and if theres a lighter option? Or anything else i can slim down? pads?

Have M sport brakes.

Thanks.

The OE 274x36 composite "lightweight" (alloy hat) disc, is listed at 14.812 kg on realOEM.

Lighter rims are the proven way to reduce unsprung weight.

If you already have the smaller 348x36 composite disc listed on RealOEM at 12.63 kg, you can't do much better for weight.

Brembo list their 348x36 composite disc at 12.2 kg... I've just weighed one and it is 12.2 kg.

Just curious why are you trying to reduce weight? Pushing for faster lap times?

I ask because this is typically not the car that people intentionally try to reduce weight. Obviously there are small things that can accomplish this such as a titanium exhaust but most aren’t willing to remove the “luxury” items standard on our vehicles.

Rotating mass is a myth. Unsprung weight is the real thing to focus on. Mass that has to change direction (not speed of direction) is there the best bang for buck is going to be.
