BIMMERPOST App 5.x Thread (iPhone/iPad/Android)

apptest the notification button is perfect. It’s a godsend. Click, next message, click, next message. Love it. Thank you.

I don’t know if it’s a real bug or not, but I’ll get email notifications of new posts, and when I open the app, even after refreshing, it shows no new posts to my subscriptions. It’s only after force quitting the app and reopening that they show up.

Edit: I just checked and I was not on the latest version, updated to 5.3.14 now, I’ll post back of it happens again.

It does help alot. Unfortunately for now I don’t have a solution. It’s an issue of memory. The poor mini has a little less ram then a lot of the other phones out there so it’s being affected by this. From my tests it’s isolated to some of these threads with a boat load of pictures and text. But only the mini is very rarely actually showing the problem. It’s something I will keep working on to get a solution for, but nothing imminent. I think there aren’t too many threads that will do that to you. Maybe just that one in recent memory. Will keep working on it

No issues for me with that thread, no crashes.

Thanks so much! Looks like the problem still occurs in the 5.4.0 release as well.

Memory usage problems are tough. Good luck to you.

And in the meantime, viewing the problematic thread in Safari is a good workaround.

I would like to report frequeant crashes especially when looking at threads with lots of pictures. When I tap on the pics within a thread mine will crash 90% of the time. I tried it and it didn’t crash. Went back to page 8, scrolled all the way then went to page 9 again and still no crash. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Subscribed Threads appear as unread when in fact they have been read. Even when opening a subscribed thread and then immediately going back to subscriptions that same thread appears as unread.

Hmm…not sure then. 5.4.x still crashes on this thread on both my Iphone X and Iphone 11.

My own thread also crashes when loading page 2

apptest I note that the YouTube video in this post:
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=29678614
doesn’t play correctly in the embedded player in the BIMMERPOST app. It’s a YouTube Short (in contrast to a “standard” video on YouTube).

However, in the web browser, this post is fine. The YouTube link just appears as a link and takes me to YouTube to watch the video.

Ok some quiet Thursday morning optimism. I think I might have a solution for this. On my testing on most any iPhone including the mini I no longer get crashing for those threads.

The one thing is that I’m in the middle of a few other updates so I won’t release the fix for a few days and just bundle all these together.

I’m still not 100% sure this fix doesn’t break something else so I’m going to test a little longer before deciding to release this fix. But right now I’m optimistic since it seems to be very solid for me on all those example threads.

How about crashing on some of those threads? For me it’s totally fixed.
And it’s just me, but with a bunch of different accounts used to test various things 👍

Yeah, lookin’ really good! I’m no longer seeing any crashes with previously problematic threads on my iPhone 13 mini. This is with the latest BIMMERPOST app version I see in the App Store: 5.5.0.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but any time I try to add a photo to my garage the app crashes on me and the photo doesn’t upload/save.

Ok I think I might have a solution to what you are seeing, I have a new version submitted to the App Store (5.5.1) which hopefully resolves your issue
