To be honest, I have no idea how often I'll use it haha. I was terrified to put the bike above the roof. But yes, good point about putting a sticky note!

Oh man, how old is this post 😀 Right now I have a Litespeed Toccoa that I’ve had at least 20 years. That’s turned into just a cruiser. A full suspension 29er that I can’t remember what it is. Haven’t ridden it in years. A Ridley X-night, and a Canyon Aeroad. These days I mostly ride the road bike (or cross bike if it’s wet).

Edit - It’s a Giant, I think a Trance…

First 100 mile week in a while. The weather is finally turning nice again, so I anticipate more weeks like this.

A local farmer finally installed an Invisible Fence, so now his two vicious dogs can't run out in the road after cyclists. They're bitten several over the years. But that opens up a road that makes for a great 20 mile loop for me. I rode it today for the first time in a few years and will be riding it more often now that the dogs aren't a threat. Except for the wind, the weather here this week is perfect for riding. And even the wind isn't all that bad.

12 mile loop, felt great. 70 degrees and high scattered clouds, perfect weather. Looking to expand the loop. We had a nice 20-miler in a previous town, hope to find something similar.

Steady 20-30MPH winds here tonight and tomorrow, with gusts over 40MPH. Won't catch me out riding in that.

Ride into the wind on the way out -- the ride back will be epic.

One of the guys who rides with the LBS group made a great GoPro video a few years ago where they were riding in 35MPH winds. He was able to overlay the data from his bike computer onto the video and it showed him hitting 42MPH on a flat road with the wind at his back. But riding against the current wind (30MPH with gusts to 45) is not my thing. Now that I have a pedal assist bike, I'll fight 20MPH winds for a bit, but that's pretty much my limit.

Tomorrow's forecast has my favorite weather phrase in it.

"Winds light and variable"

12 mile loop today. Good ride but cold and damp/humid. "Spring" in the midwest...better described as "late winter"....

I was going to brave the wind today and get a ride in, but it was threatening to rain, so I wimped out. Half hour later it was bright and sunny, but too late to ride. Still got 100 miles in this week.

What is everyone using for lights? I am using cheap Sunlites. Originally purchased in Manhattan to be legal, I have since added them to other family members' bikes.

No real complaints about the Sunlites other than they are not terribly bright. What would be considered "mid-range" in the price tier for bike lighting? Thanks.

Garmin Varia UT 800 up front, Garmin RTL515 radar/light and Bontrager Flare in the back. I ride with them in bright flashing mode and still people don't see me sometimes.

Just have a small back red light I've had for ages, not really a night rider.

12 miler, great ride.

Spring is here. Started with a windbreaker in the 50s deg F and finished in a t-shirt around 70 deg F. Lots of people walking and biking. Time to start the rides earlier in the morning to enjoy the morning coolness before the heat of the day.

Nice 7 mile ride after dinner tonight on a slightly different course than our usual 12 mile loop.

These, just a different brand; been running them since 2018 with no issues charging and all LEDs still work properly.
