I need a good video editing program

I just figured out how to put my DV feed on my computer, it's so cool! Now I just need a good program, so I can figure out how to edit stuff. Can you guys recommend me a good editing program?

If you're looking for a very technical one, Adobe Premiere is great.

Otherwise, Ulead VideoStudio great for basic video editing.

I just need a basic one, preferably one where I can edit in a picture-in-picture feed. I'd like to make a video like the Best Motoring in-car stuff (it shows the cockpit, gauges, and pedals.

Do you have a Mac or access to one? You can use Final Cut Express or Pro -- both very good editing systems. Adobe Premiere is great, but not as nice as FCP...
