The records are more art, but the occasional play is fine with a glass in hand.
Spazzy, Klipsch is having their "Christmas in July" sale right now and they have some very well reviewed options for powered "bookshelf" or "stand" speakers, FYI.

Yeah, a lot of folks in the MCM community have a love/hate relationship with Mad Men. It is often credited with the resurgence in popularity of mid century modern homes, furniture, etc. As we all know, increased popularity = increased demand = increased prices.

If you want to have your socks really blown off - Google Scott Gillen's "Case" houses in Malibu. I think one of them is for sale for $100M. 10K+ sq/ft MCM-style home on 3-ish acres?
Yea - not as easy to find steals on craigslist anymore, haha.

That house is amazing! Wow! My only issue is why enclose the entire shower with glass? Seems like one can open up a couple of those glass panels and be fine. $100mm? Funny that I couldn't even afford the maintenance each year let alone the property tax! So even if he gave it to me, I couldn't keep it haha.

Would love to see the receipt for how much that furniture cost! I bet that main couch is at least $25k.

What is this thing you guys keep calling a lawn? Talk to me like I don't like in a desert where we live on top of each other.

It's like this word acre... WTH is that.

Friends come over - and you get to play, "What's behind door number X" Looks like a great place to start adding some customization.

Oaks are really nice! There are a couple communities in LA that have oaks on a DO NOT TOUCH list. So no matter what you do to the yard, you cannot touch or take out the oak trees.

I love MCM as well. My house is a hodge podge of different stuff. The outside is definitely not, haha. The MCM houses in Orange County are rare. There are some but then the price for the area isn't of interest to me.

https://www.ocrealestateinc.com/eichler-homes/

Here is one for sale right now. Little less than 1800sw ft for a little over a million. Would need about $150-200k in renovations though.

https://www.redfin.com/CA/Orange/626...9/home/3421770

I love looking at the overhead map view. The MCM homes have such a different aerial view from surrounding houses.

I should drive through that area.... hmmm....

Thanks but you always want what you don't have!! I want the 4 bay garage, would kill for it. I just have a single and with three cars it's going to be a headache! That's reason number one I wanted to move.

Oh yeah. We’re a canopy city with a LOT of regulations. The permits needed just to start the conversation are nuts (but welcomed!)

As for me, I live in ranch style house that was built in the 70s. Some parts of the house were already updated (nothing crazy) while other parts need to be update. I want to learn as much as I can over the years, and this thread definitely serves as a motivation. Since I'm single and live there alone, I'm never in a giant rush and just do bit by bit.

Don't have any pictures from inside the house, it is truly nothing special. But the previous owner built a detached 4 bay garage that's 24x44. No power, so it's essentially just a giant basic shed. I like to browse GarageJournal, and mine is nothing compared to some of those buildings. But I started painting the walls a few months ago, but have not done any progress at all:

This garage is amazing

Recently remodeled my master bath. All the work was done by yours truly...

It took a while but I took my time and worked at my leisure when I had some free time and over weekends. We hadn't used the bathroom even once since we bought the house 3 years ago because it was just atrocious. Toilet originally had mold in it (which was resolved but we still didnt even want to use it) vanity was falling apart, shower base wouldn't come clean after multiple scrubbings etc.

I always loved the look of marble so I decided to go with that, especially since it is a small bathroom, the cost even in very nice material was not ridiculous. Anyway, please see a few pics here. I'll add some finished ones in another post.

Thanks. Yeah, since I was doing mostly the same tile on the walls, floor and shower I decided to do a herringbone pattern on the floor. Definitely makes it pop a little more

Finally got the other photos to upload. I also did a small hexagon marble for the top half of the vanity wall to the ceiling and the same patter in the shower box.

The wife and I just picked up a huge house project. We signed on a new house from a custom builder on Friday. The house is about half-finished so it cut down on wait time to completion, but we'll still get to pick all the finishes. We're hoping for a December completion date.

Current state:

Having a new furnace and A/C unit installed today. The original set was 20 years old and still working. I wanted to be ahead of it dying at the wrong time. The new A/C unit is HUGE.

WOW I feel so bad. I see all you guys here doing all this beautiful work to your houses/ apartments and I hardly can get started on any small thing in my apartment..
One thing about me is that if I don't have the right tools to do the work I get angry and I quit. I am usually a great helper not a leader, someone to take the initiative.

My wife in the other hand is the one that she will get mad at ME and just start doing things herself.
