I don't think so, other than the heavier xi.

I think that the BMW posted acceleration figures are very close to beginn with, so in real life it would an exercise in hair splitting.

Basically, for obvious marketing efforts, the e90 325 has been tuned so that the objective spec numbers are just shy of the e46 330. In real life, I would guess (not broken in yet) that my e90 325 will act just like the e46 330 and performance will for all intents and purposes be the same.

Car and driver numbers for E90 325i 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds.

Does anybody have any numbers for E46 330i?

I think that e46 had the 212 hp 222 lb/ft torque engine - the special one. Standard 330 (e46) is not that quick.

The ZHP has 235bhp; 212 would be lower than the standard 330i (225bhp). I would know, I own one

OOups

Still, my point is that I think (again I am guessing bcs I have yet to push mine) the the stock e90 325 would perform in everyday situations just like the non ZHP e46 330. AND DON'T flame me I am NOT trying to put the e46 down in any way.

You're right, their performance figures are very close, and I doubt anyone would notice a significant difference.

lol Why would I flame you?

the e46 330i is still faster than a e90 325i probably doesn't handle as well though.

It is just that written words can sometimes be misinterpreted, and I did not want to come off as putting down the e46, which I am not-I would have gotten one had my previous lease expired before the e90 was launched.

I agree whith Sho and Socom. BMWs aren't intended as drag racers.

Yes, by performance I meant both accleration and overall handling, 45-100mph figures etc.

True, but 0 to 60 is not entirely without meaning for a lot of us. Otherwise BMW would not continually increase HP, nor would anyone buy a 330i over a 325i.

I agree that acceleration is part of performance. I was thinking in terms of people who place acceleration at or near the top of the heap in reasons to purchase a particular car. BMW does not target those potential buyers. If so, they would lose every time to lower priced cars that can go like stink in a straight line but don't turn in worth a hoot!

For instance, I have a Subaru Forester XT (5-speed manual with a short shifter) that will out accelerate (0-100kph) every sport ute except the Porche Cayenne, including both BMW suvs (sav in BMW speak) in the hands of equally competent drivers under similar conditions. That doesn't mean it is almost the equal of the Porche and better than the BMW X-cars in other respects, like handling...

With only 10hp difference, it all depends on the driver.*

*and to a lesser extent on fuel, road conditions, tire conditions, etc.

E46 330i= 0-60 5.8sec
E46 330i ZHP= 0-60 5.6sec
e90 325i= 0-60 6.1sec

That driver would have to suck. And yes everyone knows BMWs are not for dragging, but who cares he wants to know, there it is.
