Simple question. What does FUD mean in the context of closing a thread?

Whatever you do, never give up your Windows PC for an Apple or Linux one. If you do, your hair will fall out, you will lose access to your bank and investing accounts, your wife will leave you for a garbage truck driver, and of course erectile dysfunction. My wife and mother-in-law about the M240 I wanted to buy:
The insurance costs too much
They are unreliable
Too small
Repairs cost way too much

Negatives about the S3 I bought?
None

I really wanted the M240, but wasn't up for the fight.

Being and engineer any time hear FUD means Fear, Uncertainty and Death. Engineers never want to kill someone so when management would ask engineers to take some risk immediate FUD would be told to management.
