The stupidity continues to spread.

Pokemon Go at Arlington and other sacred sites.

I'm not up on how these things appear at a given place, but I assume someone must create a geotag location of some sort that puts one of these things at a given point, right? If so, what kind of moron puts one in Arlington or Auschwitz?

I believe along with the geotag the more people that go to a location the high chances of more pokemon appearing there.

Agreed. I've been talking with some of our programmers here who think the Pokemon placement algorithm is dependent on the number of Pokemon app users in a given location. More users = more Pokemon critters. Probably why tourist heavy places like Arlington have so many Pokemons.

This app must kill your battery life. Besides the app itself, there's increased screen time and in most cases, increased screen brightness, plus the location services. I'm wondering how many phones are crapping out after a few hours of this.

Service providers must be making a fortune off increased data usage by users, as well.

I was wondering about that. How much data does this app use? There must be a back-and-forth with the app servers to project a Pokemon at a given point. I'm assuming with no network connection none of it will work.

Absolutely, and with location services/navigation. Not sure what platform this app uses, but 4 hours on Google Maps will soak up 1GB of data for me on my iPhone 6s+ w/ Verizon. If you have app users playing this game for 3-4 hours a day...

Seriously. Guys like Alec Baldwin will freak when they can't play Pokemon on a cross country flight.
