Should I buy an M5?

Hey guys! I bought a 2007 525i with 160,000 miles almost 2 years ago as my first car and as much as I love it, I think it’s time for something newer. It’s getting close to 200k miles and there’s a few things that need to be fixed.

I want to buy used again and got approved for $30k but want something closer to $15k for a lower monthly payment.

I found a 2008 M5 in my price range but live in Pennsylvania so I’m not sure going with RWD again would be the best for me. What would you guys recommend?

It sounds like cost is a concern for you. If that's true, stay away from M cars. They're great to drive but require $$ ton keep them happy.

Yeah, you'll need that other $15k just to keep it maintained. Going from a 525 to an M5 is a big step. Perhaps consider a 535 or 550 instead? The purchase price is just the starting point with these cars.

Agree with this post. The repair costs for M cars are usually higher than non-Ms. but if you do go M look for the signs of a well cared car, exterior and interior well taken car of, owner is mature and not a racer. Good luck
