Anyone here move to MD with an out-of-state vehicle?
Did you have to still pay an excise tax if you already paid the tax in your previous state?
This thread doesn't have to be completely specific to MD, but can include anyone who paid vehicle tax in one state, then moved to another state to get the vehicle registered. Perhaps someone here is still living in MD with out-of-state plates? If so, have the cops harassed you? Any problems? Thanks for the replies. |

I've been a resident of MD my whole life but was stationed in NC for a while. I had a car registered there before returning to MD.
Unfortunately, in MD, you have to pay tax any time you register a car there regardless of whether or not you paid a tax on it before. Last edited by benton0311; 01-03-2011 at 10:34 PM.. |

Yep, MD loves getting their hand in your pocket. If you're military it's not a big deal but if you become a resident here I think you have 60 or 90 days to get your plates taken care of.
