Yes I did.... And it confirms what the article says. See that flat spot and the dip in 2016? That's when Obama said the manufacturing jobs weren't coming back and asked if Donald Trump had some magic wand he was going to use to bring back those jobs. See that increase that started in 2017 and kept going, to the highest level on the chart? That was DJTs magic wand.

Make up my damned mind: Does the President affect <gas, stock market, unemployment> or not?

You don't get to change your selection based on what party the President represents this year.

Succinct in reference to each question answered.
These are complex questions most people cannot answer, not like this anyway imo.

Logical impossibility. Impossible to prove a negative statement as one would have to prove an infinite number of scenarios. Like asking an atheist to prove that God doesnít exist.

A key point on the economy....it was doing well leading into Trumps presidency, and is still doing well during his presidency.

Hear that?
That's the famous sound of shuffling off.

Good for you for trying but it's really pointless.

I think on the economy, whatever Trump is attributed to have done either (a) was for short-term political gain, as he knows that any long-term fallout would be attributed to whoever the President is at that time, or (b) really had no effect at all but is being marketed by Trump (or Fox News) as having significantly positive effects (ie propaganda).

Tbh, I donít think Trump really wants whatís best for the country; he really only wants whatís best for himself. I can only hope that the two are aligned.

More food for thought.........

https://www.nbcnews.com/business/bus...shows-n1108651
Tariffs contribute to job losses in American manufacturing, Fed report shows
Tariffs implemented in 2018 alone cost Americans a collective $1.4 billion each month, one study showed.

https://www.federalreserve.gov/econr...2019086pap.pdf

Remember....the tariffs are somewhat reduced...not replaced.

So far, Obama is right. Mfg jobs have had a bit of a pickup, but its mostly on-trend (data here through 12/31/2019). Wake me when we get back to 20mm manufacturing jobs and then Obama will be wrong.

I'm glad manufactering jobs continue to grow at a steady pace. The Forbes article cherry picked a bit (in the months compared) by picking one flat spot in the hiring cycle. I think we all know the business cycle is cylical, and there are always going to be flat spots.

I don't think Trump has contributed to this upturn, as the articles on tariffs have pointed out. I think (and it has been documented) most businesses are more optimistic when a GOP president is in power, and that will usually be reflected in hiring.

I tend to think the 10 year long robust economy started 10 years ago and has continued during the 3 years of President Trump's reign. So, he is somewhat responsible for 3 out of the 10 years. Good for him, but 2% growth isn't exactly miraculous.

I always wonder what it might look like had 7 of those 10 years not had a do-nothing block-everything make-obama-a-one-term-president congress. But then I also still wait for that omnibus infrastructure bill I've been promised for just about the same amount of time.

Yes. And the curve flattens until Mr. Trump takes office then takes off in 17 and continues until a slight ebb.

In this case, you can if your math is sufficient to the task. Simply remove the law and regulatory changes since Mr. Trump and extend the trend line from the Obama policies to our current date.
