This should be good. I like what they're doing with this one. I'm disappointed this will be the last Bond movie for Craig. I think he's the best Bond.

I'm a huge Bond fan and have been for many years. I think each of the actors that have played James for the exception of the original Casino Royale (if you haven't watched it....don't; it's damn near unwatchable. See for yourself - I'll post the trailer below) all seemed to play their part in how the franchise was meant to be perceived at that time. I also feel like this coincides with the time frame and how/where we were as a society at that time. Clearly it was acceptable for corny jokes and one-liners in the 80's/Moore era. It seemed to get a little more serious as time has progressed, initially with the Dalton era.

As much as I like Daniel Craig as Bond, and I would go as far as to say he is my favorite Bond thus far, I dislike what they have done with the rest of MI6. I hate that Judi Drench is no longer M, not a fan of a younger - wet behind the ears, Q or the new Moneypenny. I'm also not a fan of the lack of gadgetry. If I'm not mistaken in Spectre the only gadget used was the car and it was a one and done type situation.

My favorite 007 films would have to be from the 60's (again for the exception of Casino Royale - it is nothing more than steaming pile of shit!) because of the kitchiness to them. For the record I love old cheesy films - especially Black Exploitation films i.e. Dolomite, Car Wash, Black Belt Jones and the like.

I hate to see Craig leave us as Bond and am curious in the direction the franchise will take us now but also considering the new MI6 cast, I'm preparing for disappointment.

I'd also like to note that this will be Bond 27, not 25. Spectre was # 26.

Side note: If you have seen all 26 films and pay close attention, it will truly make you appreciate the effort that Mike Meyers put into the Austin Powers movies. Damn near every character and scene from his movies has a reference to a scene from a 007 film and even a few nods to Willie Dynamite as Willie's car was the Austin pimp mobile. Knowing these films as well as I do, almost each line verbatim, I can't possibly begin to imagine the amount of time Mike spent researching and writing for those movies.

......oh.....I forgot to post the trailer to the most overlooked (and for good reason) Bond film aside from On Her Majesty's Secret Service who had George Lazenby as the only actor who played James Bond for only one film.

The Craig films to me are just a different formula of Bond. Not as memorable as the films that shocked me as a kid in a sense, (Esprit Submarine, Pussy Galore.. lol) but I really love the violent, dark and brooding nature of Craigs portrayal. The ending of Casino Royale was phenomenal. After seeing that for the first time I knew whatever followed would not disappoint. And although the story and plots of the following films were sometimes blah, his coldness and the action scenes that were possible because of it more than made up for it IMO... He's a f'ed up dude. He found the love of his life in the first movie and lost her.. That rage has fueled him ever since. He tries to cope with it by being witty and funny sometimes and sleeping with as many other women as he can, but that memory of what he lost still haunts him... Not to dive into the psychology of his Bond, but this is what I got from it and I feel that the producers of this series of films did a much better job with an origin for the character.

Quantum of Solace had a lot to live up to after Casino Royale, but in fairness, it was also produced during the writers strike without a finished script.

The original/classic James Bond is a hero addicted to/compensating with/utilizing luxury/women/drinks. Both sides taken to (ridiculous) extreme to make a "man's dream". Risking own life to fight villains with powers beyond realistic and consuming appropriate compensation (beyond realistic as well ) for the success. In balance. (I find George Lazenby the most fit and convincing, by the way.)

So, after golden eras of Connery and Moore it went stumbling. Starting with Timothy Dalton (being a melodramatic actor indeed but still tough compared to his wet successors) they added some emotional connections to lead it down. Say, loving a woman is a (common ) way to disaster while just consuming a woman is a (usual ) successful approach and that was James Bond's winning one. (My favourite Bond girl is Jill St. John whose character played her own game incidentally.)

Pierce Brosnan was just not man enough to play a hero. Like (a few to mention) Tom Cruise and Bruce Willis he was an apparent boob licker who could only be convincing sucking tits which wouldn't make that a heroic endeavour still. And, for whatever reason, they chose Daniel Craig to focus on the emotional shit putting the heroic business aside. I only saw two of Craig's, I guess (there are some more yet I presume) and it was most annoying to watch those feelings of no interest at all. That simply isn't James Bond any more. Too different a "concept".
