Recommend me a good dedicated monitor.

I've never used an actual monitor to display my computer, since the old CRTs. I've either had a laptop or hooked it up to a TV.

I need a dedicated work PC now though, and am looking at 23" monitors. Price doesn't really matter, I deal a lot with images and video so accurate colors are very important.

What do yall use?

Asus seems good, any comments? (I know kie will chime in soon on Asus =])

I use an Apple 23" HD LCD, it is about 4-5 years old but has very nice colors. I did have a 30" but it was too big to sit in front of at a desk.

If price is really no issue, and you need absolute accuracy and color quality. Look into NEC displays. NEC makes great medical grade displays that have lower refresh times but fantastic image quality.

That first Dell looks perfect. I'll need to check it out in person first, I was looking at a few by NEC, but I can get what I need without spending that much.

After a bit more looking I can't decide if I want a 27 or 30" or 2 23" and mount them on an Ergotronic mount side by side. Or maybe 27" next to a 23", except my OCD would drive me insane that they weren't the same.

This is where I'm leaning right now. I really need 2 monitors for what I do though, so I'm thinking to get either 2 of the above, or one and use the http://www.buy.com/prod/nec-multisyn...211213138.html for dedicated Ae and Photoshop.

Still totally up in the air though, will need to see them in person this weekend.

I've always been a huge fan of Dell monitors. 2408WFP is great.
I got one at work and one at home

I have two 22" samsungs, and i like them. Newer models display colors more accurately, so you can't go wrong. And the best part, they are not expensive.

If you are looking for the most accurate colours then you will want to get something with an IPS panel like the first $500 Dell that was posted. There is also the Asus PA246Q at the same price and with a quick google search it seems the Asus is just a bit better: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-PA246Q-24...5628628&sr=1-1

If money really isn't an option then this NEC is the best one on the market: http://www.necdisplay.com/p/desktop-...cd2490wuxi2-bk

+1 for Dell monitors. I'm on my 2nd one now. Both have lasted me over 7 years.

Happy with my Gigabyte 1440p, it doesn't have the best blacks being a VA.
When looking up, no monitor is perfect. I found rtings.com useful for comparisons.

I have two 32" HP 4K monitors. I would not recommend these exact models today because they are no longer SOTA but I have to say that I like working on these better than the newer 24" ones that I use in the office. Yes, for what I do resolution matters, but size helps too. If I could have a bigger desk I'd have three 32" 4Ks all lined up next to each other. (I'm often working in CAD and several spreadsheets simultaneously, so I need a big desktop).

Samsung Odyssey G7 is the best monitor I have ever owned. The 27" should be on sale this time of the year and maybe you can steal one for $400.

Alienware QD-OLED 3440x1440 monitor (21:9 aspect ratio). Will do 144Hz in HDR and 175Hz in non-HDR if you don't want chroma sub-sampling. Basically, it's among the highest-quality panels that you can buy. I don't care much about the Alienware brand, but the panel is made by Samsung. OLEDs have a pixel response time of 0.1ms (basically nearly instant) and pure blacks. The HDR1000 and HDR400 true black certifications make for a great-quality picture. The monitor is also color calibrated at the factory and you are provided the calibration specs in the box. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alie...or-accessories

There's an MSI alternative, but it doesn't have Gsync as the Alienware monitor does.
