thats a nice ruck.

what do you plan on using for weight ?

My longer cool weather treks are 7 miles with 20 pounds, it's a great workout. I do hot weather workouts, push-ups and then I'll hold dumbbells and do squats

I was thinking either water bottles or sand bags, I also have various sizes dumbbells… If I stay committed then perhaps upgrade to ruck specific weights.

Do you walk or jog?

Walk.

Used to do 10 + mile runs with a 20 pounds of weight. I was weighing low 150's at the time.

Though if I had a sandy beach...

I've had knee injuries where I recuperated walking with 20 pounds and I think it aided my recovery if not maintained my fitness.

The only tip: for me it took time to adapt to the should strap pressure points.
I'm glad you posted this, I'm going to try sone new stuff Thursday morning.

I haven't had the medium ruck, but the large is adjustable and most people dont realize it. Check to see if you can adjust the fit to your torso length, it will save your back and shoulders in the long run.

Most people wear rucks and packs wrong. Your shoulders should not support the weight, your waist should. Shoulder straps should just assist with stability and position. There are multiple videos and articles on how to properly size and wear a pack, especially in the backpacking crowd.
