An Horological Tour of Las Vegas

I spent this week in Vegas and did a bit of watch tourism. Only in Vegas do you find 3 Patek dealers, 2 Vacheron Constantin dealers, 2 Lange & Söhne dealers, several Breguet, Blancpain, Piaget, Van Cleef & Arpels, etc... all within 3 miles of one another. Here are some of the "greatest hits".
Here are:
Vacheron Constantin - Traditionelle Small Seconds in Platinum
Patek Phillippe - Annual Calendar / Chronograph in Stainless, White Gold, and Platinum
Vacheron Constantin - Perpetual Chronograph in White Gold
Vacheron Constantin - Patrimony Automatic Date in White Gold
Vacheron Constantin - 14 Day Tourbillon in Rose Gold
A Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Striking Time in Rose Gold
A Lange & Söhne Datograph Ab/Auf in Platinum

Sorry I did not get movement photos - I took a couple, but it is virtually impossible without good lighting using an iPhone to get anything worth sharing. Enjoy the watch porn.

So, this is not STRICTLY the right place, but I hate spawning zillions of threads. While I did not see this one in Vegas (since it was just announced today) here is a VC that I would LOVE to get.
They have cased their 2460WT Geneva Sealed world timer movement in their new Gen 3 Overseas line. Do want...
There are three variants, but this blue one is my favorite.

Also, transparent back with this gorgeous movement.

So, I'm back in Vegas six weeks later for another series of meetings. The VC Tourbillion - ($242K) is sold. The Lange Zeitwork Striking time ($117K) is also sold. I only stopped briefly by the one boutique, because I am much busier this time, but they were both gone. They did have a VC Toubillion Monopusher Chronograph. It is limited to only 26 pieces and lists around $340K. Beautiful watch. The guy told me he called a client to tell him about it and that he couldn't get it because his father in law already had one. Heh. SMFH! There is wealth and then there is wealth.

Wow that is a beautiful watch!

I wonder what types of assets/income these people have to purchase easy 6 figure watches. Seems pretty mind-blowing. Then again, buying power isn't really linear, so some of them maybe be watch enthusiasts who make 800k to just over a million per year.

Is it weird to go into stores and ask to try on six figure watches (assuming no intent to purchase)

Actually, I always let them know and just read the situation. I started by always declining to try them on, since I felt bad. Then I realized that they really want you to try it on. They like talking about them and, if you are knowledgeable, like to hear your part. That's really the way you know the person behind the counter is a real watch person. Nowadays, I make it clear that I am researching and that those watches are probably not anywhere in the near or mid-term future and take it from there. Nine times out of ten, they say, "You have to try this on, you will love how it look and feels on."
