I did a search and couldn't find a thread for just pets, so I thought i just start one.
Please feel free to post pictures of your pet(s). I'll start by posting my doberman pinscher, Tyson.

No worries, below is the original. How would you fix it?

this is just my style, but in yours, i feel like the saturation is overdone. what really jumps out, though, is the gaussian blur. it's completely unnatural and the dog wasn't well selected. any time you do a gaussian blur type edit, you have to create a depth of field that seems natural to the eye. You won't just have a relatively large object standing up completely in focus in a completely defocused background. the defocus has to be gradual.

I don't like any of them. There's too much going on in the background that the subject gets lost.

take a crack at it, if you've got the time. i'd like to see different takes. i jsut did a quick edit of it, but the dog isn't very sharp, and it isn't very well distinguished from the background, like kingofjericho pointed out.

Yea it's almost like having a wild dog. They do listen though, but usually only for food. In most cases they aren't off-leash dogs.

I'll just go ahead and share my rescue story. Ferrasol came to me in March of 2007. She was a neglected 22 yr old Arabian Mare. Her pasture mate had died and was left in the same field as her. Her owner surrendered her over to a veterinary clinic and I took her. This is what she looked like the day we brought her home. Skinny and lame.
After nursing her back to health I gave her to my Grandma as a Christmas present. Now my Grandma (who is 68) and Ferrasol (who is now 25) are just two old ladies that enjoy each others company. Ferrasol is a pasture ornament in our stable. Her age and small frame keeps her from being ridden. Sometimes when we put the horses in different pasture my 6 yr old cousin will get on her bareback for a second but thats the most Ferrasol will be able to endure. She's happy just living out the rest of her days on our ranch. This is her today Last edited by Sara; 01-29-2010 at 10:43 PM.. |

Rescue Story II.
Cali came to us in November of 2007. Her owners were killed in a horrific car accident. Truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit a car head on. Killing Cali's owners instantly. The neighbors sold the horses for pennies. We adopted Cali for $500. She had been sent to 5 different homes in one month and each person just passed her along to the next. We think she was about 5 at the time. She was timid. If you got anywhere near her, she bolted. To just feed her we had to put food in a bucket and leave it overnight for her to pick at when no one was around. Trying to put a halter on her was like trying to give a cat a bath. She didnt want to be touched. She would pin her ears and bite out of fear. It took about a little over a year to gain her trust and let her know she was finally home and she wasnt going to be shipped off again. Now you can brush her. She comes up to you and wants you to just love on her and give her treats. She loves being around people now. She and Jacqueline are best buds.
