Flood of notification emails

Wondering if anyone knows why I would all of a sudden be getting a flood of email notifications on posts I’ve been subscribed to.

I have not been receiving any at all, then all of a sudden notifications on old comments and replies (and even old private messages) starting flooding into my email inbox over the past few days. Many are from comments left weeks or months ago.

I did visit my control panel so wondering if I accidentally clicked something to all of a sudden enable something. Or maybe I unknowingly clicked a verification link that sent the notifications flooding in … but I don’t recall doing either.

Any ideas as to what’s going on?
