You got that right. Every time you read something, x or y is a carcinogen. It gets to be a bit ridiculous. Having gone through two cancers myself, I just live life as best as I can. I workout constantly which is something everyone can do to lower their chances of getting cancer.

I had cut out red meat from my diet after my cancer diagnosis' but have added it back in. However, I don't consume the same amount of red meat prior to cancer though. The only vices I have are colas and sweets.

There was a time, way back in the 1980s (yes, whippersnapper, 19 hundred and 80) when hair dryers were cancer-causing. My dad (basically bald) took ours away. I nearly DIED of shame going to high school with flat, wet hair. (yes, whippersnapper, I *USED* to have hair on top of my head too)

2-4 "sugar free" sodas of varying flavor per day. Heading off to get me one now!

Sugar free soda tastes like antifreeze to me... It isn't as poisonous but you know... If it tastes like poison I don't drink it...

Many artificial sweeteners are so sweet that they make everything else not seem sweet anymore which is also a problem... I saw some reports that it will trick your mind into thinking you have had sugar even though no calories have been consumed and it then makes you even more hungry. The studies on it changing the bacteria in your gut is also interesting. For me I don't like it and learning to like it doesn't make sense...

I stopped drinking soda in general many years ago. I will occasionally drink a regular coke but it is maybe once a month. I do drink la croix or just a plain sparkling water but no more than 1 a day and not every day. It turns out drinking water is best, imagine that...

Don't get me started on how most sugar substitute packets (when packed dry) are packed in dextrose (pure glucose) so they are basically 1/3 sugar but below the legal amount that counts as calories.... Artificial sweeteners are suck a racket.

I keep wanting to start a 0 calorie sugar packet company. The plan was to just reduce the size of the packets and pack regular sugar and call it zero calories.... I even worked out a slogan, "It tastes like sugar because it IS sugar."

Everything has its consequences. If it is sweet it probably isn't very good for you... (this includes tropical fruits)

There once was a man,
Who never laughed or played.
He never smoked or drank,
Nor ever kissed a maid.
And the day he passed away,
His insurance was denied.
For since he never lived,
They claimed he never died.

Drink the damn Diet Coke.

BTW, I drink Diet Pepsi.™

PS: Can anyone find research on how many deaths by Aspartame since the introduction of the product.

Can anyone explain why drinking a Diet Coke is the equivalent of a colon cleanse for me? I don't know what it is, but most artificial sweeteners have me spending hours in the bathroom. I'm 99% sure it started when I was about ~21 and I had a Z-Pak for a bad inner ear infection. My gut hasn't been right since then, and I've tried all sorts of stuff like probiotics.

Unfortunately, artificial sweeteners in LITERALLY EVERYTHING now. Even food and drinks that didn't used to have it. I have to read labels all the time now.

Not that I know of, actually. I can have Red Bulls and the regular Monsters with no problem. So I don't think it's any sort of caffeine sensitivity.

As with most foods, some folks just can’t tolerate certain things. Google “NNS laxative effect” and there’s plenty of info out there on this specific topic. As to the change, I think your suspicion of gut change following antibiotic treatment is probably correct.

I guess that’s one more reason why normal cola is better than diet cola, apart from the obvious one about taste

If you have willpower then just have orange squash instead of any cola, as said all cola's have sugar or saccharine added.

LOL - it has been illegal in Europe for years - that is why you get "Coke Lite" there instead of Diet Coke. Diet Pepsi took it out for awhile which is why I switched, but then they put it back when everyone cried, so it has it too.
