So I think I almost died last night

Last night I was coming home from a semi late night grocery run. Due to my after work schedule I can only really make it out to the store around 9pm on weekdays.

Coming back home around 10p... the roads in the city are pretty clear. And I pulled up to an intersection in the far left lane. I was first at the light along with 2 other cars on my right.

Light goes green and I look to see if the intersection is clear and of course start to make my way through. Then out of NO where I see this blinding ass light on my left. I look to my left and all I saw were two big ass headlights moving towards me. I couldnt really make out the make/model of the car but I could tell it had a chrome grill. I sort of panicked since I didnt know whether to speed up or lock the brakes up. Well muscle reaction made me slam the brakes and lock up. I was completely frozen like a deer in the headlights. I could actually tell that car was perfectly lined up directly with the middle of my door.

I literally thought... FUCK this is it. I'm going out in a wreck, coming back from the grocery store.... fuck...I cant believe this. So naturally when something is coming at your face, I put my hand up in a pathetic hope if I did get hit some how it'd make a difference.

So as I sat there basically a dead man... then car peeled off to the left at literally the very very last millisecond. It was so close it clipped my front bumper and left a small paint streak.

I could hear the whine of the other car under what sounded like heavy throttle when I looked to my right. There were 4 dudes in the car... windows down and the rear passengers were basically hanging out of the car looking like they were having a good time.

The other driver next to me got out of his car and ran over to me and asked if I was alright. I rolled the window down and was like holy fuck did that just happen. He gave me his number just in case and then we parted ways.

Still shaken I got home parked my car and took the elevator to my condo and just sat there till about 130am.

So here's my thing... is there anything I can do to locate these assholes? I am pretty certain there are cameras at the intersection looking multiple directions both north and south and east and west bound. The damage to my car is negligible and the paint easily wiped off.

Also since I didnt see the car coming and time it took for me to enter the intersection, how fast do you think the other car was traveling? Here's where it happened via google maps. The incident happned roughly at 101 President St. Heading westbound on Lombard to make a left turn southbound on President St. Based on the traffic patters that I know the lights heading northbound on the intersections of Eastern Ave and Fawn St would've been green. With the red lights at Pratt and Lombard. Pratt street is one way headed eastbound and I've ruled out the fact the other car came from Pratt St to northbound and towards me sitting on Lombard.

So given the starting point from the other car coming off Fleet street .3miles away. How fast do you think the average sedan with 4 people could've been traveling?

I want to contact the Baltimore police but they are fucking worthless and since no one got hurt wont investigate.

Something tells me I'm lucky to be alive and despite all the saftey features of the M4. I think if there was a side collision it would've been fatal.

Then to make things even worse.. I didnt take my groceries out and in the hot and humid weather the chicken I bought went bad and my car now smells like a rotten poultry farm....

Unfortunately, knowing Baltimore police fairly well, they're pretty much useless in a case like this. No real actions can be taken that would be worth your time, assuming there's no damage to the car.

If you're wearing a seatbelt the chance of death is really slim. I've seen 6 fatalities in the last 18 months and none were belted. I've seen a bunch of BAD side hits that were not fatal. A brand new Honda hit drivers door and driver lived.

There's a calculator for "Distance from Speed and Time" so for instance 60 mph in 15 seconds = 1319.9 ft.

There's another one for "Speed from Distance and Time" where 2200 ft in 15 seconds = 100 mph.

You could go back to the intersection (at night maybe) and measure off some distances. I'd try the speed limit for but that's just the amatuer detective in me.

As for cameras, I tried this site.... http://publicrecords.onlinesearches....nd-Reports.htm but I couldn't find any.... maybe there's a better site out there.

You could check the local businesses, some have cameras and they may allow you to take a peek.

Again, playing amateur detective here....

I'd go to the closest police station and at least talk to someone there to see what your options are. I have heard of civilians doing the legwork and police issuing citations for traffic violations - it won't cost you anything but some time.

EAL, glad you're ok. I can't even imagine that thoughts that were going through your mind, i.e., life flashing before your eyes. Sounds like those assholes were playing a game of chicken. If you're up for it, maybe you go back to the scene of the crime and park somewhere out of the way. Then, watch to see if they do it again. In short...

Drove to work around 5-AM , and I had the green light and saw in the corner of my right eye a shadow and it was already too late !
BOOM !!!
He drove through the red light and he drove into the right side of my previous Mini (speed approx 70 mph)
The accident happend in 2013 and it was a hit and run !
My Mini flew 2 times around and I ended up on the other side of the road ,and I thought where am I, and suddenly I saw that he drove away and again through the red light (hit and run) !
I started my Mini again and the chase began !
I drove about 10-12 miles to drive him off from the road , I opened his door..I pulled him out of his car and took his car keys and called the cops !
Cops came and they said WTF happend here , because my Mini was traverse in front of his car but it was from driving him off the road !
I said to the cops the accident happend not here but about 12 miles away from here !
Cops were like
Mini was sadly totaled and I bought another red Mini with of course a lot of loss...And I had for 3 weeks pain in my neck !

Of the few times I've been in a car wreck - I would remember the incident in 'slow motion' in retrospect for about a week.

Exactly brother ...The slow motion images I had as well.
Think this comes from the shock for our mind, and I even remember the metallic scratch noises from the impact !
Horrible memories they are ...
