Running Forums?

Can anyone recommend a good running forum to look into?

It seems Bimmerpost as far as forums goes does an amazing job at filtering out spam, bots, and all the users seem to be extremely active on here. Just looking for something similar in the running community.

I did google this but I found all the forums I ended up on were very spammy or not many active users.

If you one one, let me know. I've been looking for a while as well and haven't found a really good one yet. These are the two that I look at occasionally, but they leave a bit to be desired.

I think it depends upon the genre and the community, if there are some active people who contribute to the forum regularly, it will be less spammy and the management will also participate in running it well.

Nice! Best of luck! My brother in law is running comrades ultra for the second year in a row this year. 90Kms, 1,000 meter elevation climb. Insane.

The guy who painted my bike used to run Badwater, and wears that 24hour buckle nearly every day. He did it with only 1 kidney too

I had my best run of the year, both time and distance, last night. 3.4 @ 34:14

Just a bit of good news: Saturday ran a different course than usual, resulting in a PR in the past 2 years for distance. Last night, ran that same distance again, but stopping only at red lights. Plateau broken, even if just by .3 miles

I never visit any athletic forums, but I would wonder if places like myfitnesspal or similar would have good running sub forums. Maybe sub forums for devices like garmin, under Armour etc..

In the last decade I had to pass some physical fitness tests related to my level of referee certification for soccer. Included both sprints as well as timed distances. I had no issues even at my "advanced" age relative to all the other candidates. But as evidenced by the information above, I have always LOVED to run. I don't ref any longer, in part because I so much prefer to PLAY soccer.

Near the end, my mother had a very limited range of motion, but she still loved (at least I seemed to think) to hear about me running. The vision I had of her after her death was her being free to move around again, with way more flexibility than she ever had during her life.

Try Slowtwitch.com. It's more or less a triathlon forum, but there are a lot of seasoned endurance racing vets there.

Monday I went in another different direction. Went 10% farther than before, and clocked my fastest average time in 2-4 mile range as well. I got to keep finding new roads.

Is anyone running with a computer-chip in their shoe and downloading stats either during or after a run.

Started running with the Under Armour (my first AU shoe) HOVR Infinite and getting some measurements after the run from their app.

Finding it a lot if fun using a chipped shoe.

What sort of data does the shoe provide? I use both my Fitbit and Runkeeper apps to tell me distance/rate, including heart rate, steps. I can pay to compare that all to previous runs, but don't at this point.

Monday night I broke a new/recent distance barrier: For the first time since I met any of the people I currently live with, I ran 4+ miles!! Slower than some other runs, in part because it was late and I chose to run lighted sidewalks, which includes stop lights. I think those micro-breaks also contributed to making it to 4.

When running with just the shoe and not having a smart phone along, when you get back to sync with your phone it gives you; distance, time, how many steps, calories burned.

I haven't run with my phone yet, but that gives you some gait analysis and additional stats, mapping etcetera.

The shoe stats on their own was pretty accurate. The directions tell you and I observed that on a .33 mile section where the incline is 20% since my pace is slow that those parts of the run may not be tracked as running, but still think it counts those steps.

I had been a Brooks wearers exclusively for about 36 months or so, but these Under Armour HOVR running shoes seem extremely good. I was aware of UA having shoe issues and firing and hiring key design people and I think they are equal to anyone with these shoes and the reviews seem to suggest this.

So I just double checked and with just the shoe not tagging along a phone, the shoe chip once connected to the UA app gives you also; avg pace, avg stride length, avg cadence. and it charts out everything per mile.

I need to learn how to interpret all the data, but I'm very impressed.

Geezer's log: Stardate, last night.

Instead of the usual trip to the Moon (Luna Ct) I swept to the outer planets (Saturn Ct). Total was 3.75 AU. The solar winds were blowing at 25 Million Particles per Hour. Ran into some turbulence upon returning to Sol1, and slowed on several occasions. I think there was some time-variance due to the gravitational inputs, because chronometer showed this was the 3rd fastest average pace. After using the gravity of Sol1 to slow at the end, I made some polar hyperspace jumps to complete the journey.

tl:dr Ran 3.75 with 25MPH cross winds. Finished with telephone pole sprints. 3rd fastest average pace on 2-4 miles.
