My wife doesn't tell me anything.....she doesn't want to encourage me!

I plan to look up that Athleen X video you mentioned about the trap exercise today during lunch.

Sounds like something I have never tried, and I'm game for anything different to switch it up some!

I was always like that. I had gym time planned no matter where we went on vacation. The last two years, I got lazy and didn't step foot in a gym the entire time we were on vacation.

1st year on day one, I did a run on the beach. Then I said screw it.

Last year, no exercise at all and eating ice-cream on the boardwalk every evening after dinner. Last year was a little different though. I got so lean that I was actually depleted. Over the course of the next 4-5 days of eating whatever/whenever I wanted...I started filling out and actually looked better than I did two weeks prior.

Here I was.... a 44 year old man at the time having random teenagers come up and asking me about training and stuff when on the beach..or out during the evening in a tank top.

My wife thought it was weird...I just thought it was funny.

Hey man...if that is what works for you....then by all means you do it. I've settled down a little bit about it....but I used to be so OCD..maybe too much.

For one I'm an engineer..so I'm a little too logical in my thinking about everything.

So it kind of makes me an "all or nothing" type of person. If I can't invest into something 100%, I take the position that I'm wasting my time even if I am doing something at 80% effort.

It's hard to stay out of the gym isn't it?.
I feel your pain. There is always something I can find to do!

Maybe the shoes? Were you using the new ones you had talked about? Couldn't remember if you had actually picked them up yet or not.

Nice bench.. Sucks about the headache.

This was my first week of de-load.

Bench 8 sets of 5 reps at 275 (same as you)
Incline Bench 8 sets of 5 reps at 225
Face pulls
Tricep work

Tomorrow is deadlift and pull-ups with some bicep work.

De-load has me doing 8 sets of deadlift at 365 for 5 reps, and 100 pull-ups with just bodyweight in as little amount of sets as possible.

Yeah...this is supposed to be "active recovery" where you drop weight or volume or both, rest periods increase, and the workouts are supposed to be easy to allow your body to recuperate.

Next week all the new maxes go into effect and progressively get harder each subsequent week until time for deload again.

I guess it's just short of taking the week off. But you get to concentrate on form and trying to force blood into the areas you're working.

Rmtt....EMOM DLs today. 10 mins... 5 reps 335 Brutal....only had 15-20 seconds rest last few rounds.

My active recovery yesterday was swimming. (Freestyle and breast stroke) then tread water (40 seconds on/20 seconds off) for 15 mins.

That sounds brutal.

You brought up something I want to try. My EMOM sets are programmed into my phone to be one minute rest periods between each set until I miss a certain amount of reps....it may take 5 sets...or 10.

But I think I will program it to start reducing my rest period by 10 seconds each set after 2-3 initial sets in and see how that goes.

Thanks for the idea! I didn't even think about something like that.
