BMW e60 lateral acceleration sensor
Hello,
I’m having a problem with my lateral acceleration sensor it’s putting on warning lights on the dash, I have got a replacement and tried reprogramming it on launch but it fails Has anyone ever had this before or is able to shed light on it for me ? |

There's very little detail to go on here, but I'm assuming you're having the DSC, the ABS and brake faults on the dash? This could mean a number of things, but if it is what I think it is then you may have a faulty ABS sensor. It'll connect in a wheel well. The issue could also be that one of your drive shafts may be corroded or dirty and that this is why the fault occurs. If it's a front wheel and your car is RWD, it'll be part of the wheel bearing.
When I read "reprogramming it on launch" I assume you tried to clear the code on a Launch scanner. The sensor itself is not programmable. It'll just read the fluctuations on the rotating mass just like a hall sensor. The "trifecta" lights typically means that the wheel speed sensor or ABS sensor is either faulty or reporting back spurious data to the DME. |
