Hello everyone, fresh meat here.
I have owned my e60 535xi (stock vehicle appart a custom charge pipe and blow off, has had a stage 1 tune from mhd tuner, have done all the periodic maintenance oil changed a month ago, diff oil and tranny oil changed a couple years ago) for a while now and have recently had an issue come up, or perhaps three. So first off the car has started shaking when in drive after a cold start, but only when not moving uppon starting to drive the said shaking goes away. After warming up stops making noise. Then a couple weeks later the whole engine started running a bit rough, shaking and an iffy idle if stock uppon raising idle with mhd to around 900-1000 doesnt shake at all, this issue goes away uppon warming up as well. So might be just a continuation of the first issue. And lastly the car has been making a slight but loud vibration when turning and accelerating, sometimes goes away but usually stays no matter if its cold or warm. Only makes the vibration when turning left. So if anyone has ideas or has encountered the same issues please lend a helping hand. Cause i ain't taking it to no mechanic. Thanks in advance |

From reading your post, I would suggest to investigate three things:
1) the shaft from the transfer box to the front final drive assembly. The splines that connect from the transfer box to the final drive need to be seated properly. If left unchecked and the shaft comes loose it can ruin the car. There are after market versions of this shaft with longer splines to mitigate this issue. I don't think BMW has a mitigation by means of replacing the shaft. 2) Check your front suspension. The whole "turning left" thing makes me think there's something going on here. Maybe a bad thrust arm or something like that. 3) Check your brake rotors. |
