Seems to take forever just to change gear.

I would feel so paranoid driving that car like that.

No thread jack just adding some speakers and Ferrari topping.

@ 33 seconds would be so cool, yet mean, at a busy crosswalk...

A combination of what this costs and how rare it is, even if I had unlimited funds I would never be able to bring myself to driving it like this. Great video.

Splendid video, thanks! Yes of course he was shifting slow, he was driving a legendary and stupendously expensive car. Generally speaking however cars of that era had to shifted less vigorously than gearboxes can be shifted today. The snychronizers were made of brass and you could literally crack one in half with a hamfisted shift. Modern synchros are much more robust. Plus we have more precise machining now, harder steels, better lubricants, yada yada.

He was also not redlining the engine. It still sounded fantastic. I really enjoyed watching the windshield wiper levitate during the 'out' run, near the end.

Given the value of the car I don't blame him for taking it easy on the shifts. He must have been smiling from ear to ear the whole time.

One of my favorite cars. Ferrari has made some absolutely jaw droppingly amazing sounding engines/exhaust notes over the years.

Does anyone know why the engine on throttle lift off in the higher rev ranges has that kind of nasal sound, like something is resonating in the gearing/bearings?

Nice dogleg layout too.

the clutch on old italian cars are often HEAVY AS HELL. you can't shift fast.....shifting fast is a modern car thing because the clutches in modern cars is so light and assisted.

these were made in a time when sports cars were real driving machines.....not like these days when a bunch of dorks sit around discussing irrelevant nurburgring lap times.

I think the 250 GTO is one of the best looking cars Ferrari ever made. I think the 250 GTO Series II (or Type 64), which this is, is one of the ugliest. That roof-line is just atrocious. Shame.... ding ding ding... shame.

A few months ago my friend tipped me off that my local dealership had a 250 GTO on display so I obviously ran over to check it out. I walked the whole showroom floor looking for it before I asked where it was. They pointed it out to me and it was a Series II. I never knew this other body style even existed and I wish it didn't. I left without even snapping a picture.

^the series 2 is still very rare (rarer than the series 1). Looks like the 250LM (another 10mil.+ supercar).

Interesting to see the 250GTO owners list and purchase value:

3757GT Red Nick Mason London, GB £35,000 in 1978

(nick mason was of course the drummer of pink floyd for who's younger than 30 here)

There is no such thing as an ugly Ferrari 250 GTO. Some are just prettier than others.
